🏆👉 Romania won the Group E Matchday 1 against Ukraine for the UEFA EURO 2024 on Monday 17 June 2024 at the Munich Football Arena in Munich, Germany.  Romania crushed Ukraine without conceding a goal claiming all 3 points.  This is the first official meeting between Romania and Ukraine after each of the previous six has taken place in friendly competitions. Romania won the top three between 2001 and 2003, while Ukraine went unbeaten in the last three (W2 D1 between 2010 and 2016).

Romania took the lead in the 29th minute. Nicolae Stanciu defeated Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Lunin with a right footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Dennis Man.

Romania with another goal in the 53rd minute. Razvan Marin scored with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Ukraine in total chaos. Romania leading 3-0 following the goal by Denis Dragus from very close range for Romania with a left footed shot to the center. The assist is by Dennis Man following a corner conceded by Andrii Lunin.

✅   Stats before the game: Ukraine are in their fourth consecutive UEFA European Championship but have lost eight of their 11 matches in the competition (W3); the highest percentage of defeats among nations involved in more than one edition of the tournament (73%). Romania are taking part in their sixth UEFA European Championship, their first since 2016, when they finished bottom of their group with just one point.
In 16 matches at the UEFA European Championship, Romania have managed just one win (D5 L10), against England at EURO 2000 (3-2) thanks to Ioan Ganea’s 89th-minute penalty.
