🏆👉 France obtained a victory winning Matchday 1 against Austria for the UEFA EURO 2024 on Monday 17 June 2024 at the Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. It’s the day of the debut at Euro 2024 for world champion France. Mbappé does not shine but France won thanks to an own goal. It was a narrow win for the World Cup runners-up, who today (17 June, 9pm) at the Dusseldorf Arena beat Austria 1-0 in the match valid for the first day of Group D. Deschamps’ team, captained by Mbappé, thus hooked the Netherlands at the top of the group standings (victorious in a comeback over Poland).

One victory for each side in the two previous meetings that have taken place in the FIFA World Cup: in 1934 (3-2 for Austria) and in 1982 (1-0 for France). Austria have won just one of their last 10 games against France, in all competitions (D2 L7): a 3-1 win in Vienna in FIFA World Cup qualifying in September 2008. This is Austria’s fourth appearance at the UEFA European Championship, their third in a row. Their only previous appearance was in 2008, when they automatically qualified as co-hosts.
