✅ Italy defending the title making their debut for the UEFA EURO 2024 Group B game against Albania with a win on Saturday 15 June 2024 at the BVB Stadium in Dortmund, Germany. Despite a shocking start, with Sassuolo midfielder Nedim Bajrami’s record goal immediately after 23 seconds following a wicked throw-in by Dimarco. Italy did not lose their composure and overturned the result thanks to the goals by Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolò Barella. This is a fundamental success for their path in the Europeans. Thanks to this 2-1, the Azzurri reached the top of Group B over Spain, who defeated Croatia 3-0 in the afternoon.
The Azzurri’s journey will continue on Thursday 20 June: Italy will face Spain.
This is Italy’s 11th participation in the UEFA European Championships: only Germany and Spain have won the tournament more times than the Azzurri (twice, in 1968 and 2020), who could also become the second team to win two consecutive UEFA European Championships after Spain itself (2008 and 2012).
The UEFA EURO 2024 Group B Standing shows Spain in the 1st position with 3 points and a positive goal difference of +3. Italy in the 2nd position with 3 points and a positive goal difference of +1. Albania in the 3rd position with 0 points. Croatia in the 4th position also with 0 points.
