Italy 1 – 0 Bosnia and Herzegovina
Italy won the last international friendly game against Bosnia and Herzegovina ahead of the UEFA EURO 2024 on Sunday 9 June 2024 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy. The Azzurri will make their debut at the European Championship on Saturday 15 June in Dortmund.
Italy beat Bosnia in an entertaining game in the first half, decidedly in the second. Under the deluge of Empoli, Spalletti’s national team ended its pre-European training camp with a victory by thanks to a goal by Davide Frattesi, who did well to take advantage of a splendid assist from Chiesa in the first half.
The Azzurri are focused with maximum concentration as we are closer to the EURO 2024 debut. Luciano Spalletti hasn’t lost any of his first three friendly games in charge of the Azzurri (W2 D1); the last coach of the senior national team to remain unbeaten in the first four matches were Dino Zoff, between November 1998 and April 1999 (1W, 3D). Empoli is the 42nd different Italian city to host an Italy match, the fifth Tuscan after Florence, Livorno, Pisa and Siena; The Azzurri are unbeaten in 35 of their 36 games played in Tuscany (W26 D9), losing only in the friendly against Croatia in Livorno on 16 August 2006 (0-2).
Italy took the lead in the 38th minute. Davide Frattesi defeated Bosnia goalkeeper Kenan Piric with a right footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Federico Chiesa.

✅ Stats before the game: After losing their first competitive match against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2-1 in Sarajevo on 6 November 1996), Italy went unbeaten in their next four matches against them (W3 D1). Italy have kept a clean sheet in their last two matches (against Ecuador and Turkey) and could keep three clean sheets in a row for the first time since the run of 11 recorded between November 2020 and June 2021 under Roberto Mancini. Italy have drawn two of their last four games (W2), as many draws as in the previous 16 games (W9 D5); in general, the Azzurri have not recorded two consecutive “X” signs since November 2021, two draws against Switzerland and Northern Ireland in that case, in the World Cup qualifiers.
👉🇮🇹 Lineup ITALIA (3-4-2-1): Donnarumma, Darmian, Buongiorno, Calafiori – Bellanova, Jorginho, Fagioli, Cambiaso, Frattesi, Chiesa, Scamacca.
