Switzerland and Germany ended the UEFA EURO 2024 Matchday 3 game with a draw on Sunday 23 June 2024 at the Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It’s a thriller, Germany equalized in the final. Switzerland had to settle for second place. Germany earns a potentially softer draw in the round of 16, while Switzerland will face the second in Group B. Italy is a serious candidate to meet the Swiss in the direct elimination phase of these European Championships.
Swiss lead in the first half scored by Ndoye, equalizer in the final minutes of injury time by the usual Fullkrug, with his 13th goal for the national team. Andrich and Vargas’ goals were also canceled out during the match.
This was the first meeting between Switzerland and Germany in a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup, when West Germany beat Switzerland 5-0 in the group stage. They also met in the 1938 World Cup (Switzerland won 4-2 in the round of 16 replay) and 1962 (West Germany won 2-1 in the group stage).

✅ Stats before the game: Switzerland are unbeaten in their last three matches against Germany (W1, D2), with these three matches seeing 16 goals scored, an average of 5.3 per match – the Swiss had lost 16 of their previous 18 matches against the Germans (D2). Germany has scored in 52 of 53 matches against Switzerland in all competitions. The only exception was the 0-0 draw in the April 1968 friendly. Switzerland has not lost their final group stage match in any of their last eight appearances in a major international tournament (W5, D3); the last time it happened was EURO 2004 (1-3 vs France). Germany could become the third host nation to win all three group stage matches at a European Championship, after the Netherlands in 2000 and France in 1984; furthermore, it would be the first host nation to do so in a major international tournament since Germany itself in the 2006 World Cup (excluding EURO 2020, which had 11 host nations).
