Here are the declarations from AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allergi after the game.
“Now we have to think about defending third place. The players deserve it and I’m happy for them. We have to improve but that’s normal a we’re a young side. You saw the desire to get forward and score in the derby and we paid a high price for that. Today we did better. When things seem to be going well, we can sometimes fall into traps. It’0s been a while since we won without conceding and it was important that we did that today. The result was important for the head to head clashes as well. De Sciglio has great qualities and the more he plays on the left, the more he gets used to it. I’m lucky to have options at full back. Ambrosini started in the middle as I needed a smart and experienced player there. Friday’s game will be much more difficult than Wednesday’s one as Genoa need points and the game against Barcelona prepares itself, so the later we focus on that, they better off we’ll be.”

“I’m happy with Zaccardo who came on this evening and showed what a great professional he is. He’ll be an important player for the rest of the season if we’re to be able to achieve important goals that many people didn’t believe possible at the start of the season. Results will help the players to do even better. We’re playing more as a team now and we have a faster passing game. We managed the ball well in the second half. We’re a young team and today the players learned the lessons from the derby and we did better. In the second half, they were sitting back and we had to wait for them to come out. When that happened we had some good opportunities that allowed us shooting chances.”
