The Derby del Sole is highly expected because Napoli  are  overtaking the third position defeating AS Roma with super El Matador Edinson Cavani scoring 3 goals, a hat trick to take the ball home as souvenir.  Inter defeated by Udinese and Fiorentina defeated by Pescara  left the chance to Napoli to jump from the 5th position to the third position.   Fiorentina and Inter have 35 points each.  Napoli breaking the negative taboo lately losing the last 2 home games at the San Paolo Stadium.  Making it more party time is that Cavani becomes now sole top scorer leader with 16 points overtaking the kingdom from AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy with 14 goals.

Party time for Napoli with the opening goal in the 4th minute!  Yep, there it is the action with forward Goran Pandev running fast to make a right footed assist towards Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani who was also running to be in the right position.  Immediately still in running mode Cavani gets the assist and delivers a right footed shot while AS Roma Goicoechea attempts to stop and the ball hit his left foot, but not enough to stop it and there you see the ball in the bottom right corner.

Second half starting by increasing the party with another goal by El Matador Cavani!  In the 48th minute there you see Cavani from the center of the box delivering a left footed shot to defeat AS Roma goalkeeper Goicoechea in the center with assist by forward Goran Pandev. This is the 15th goal by Cavani becoming sole top scorer leader.   Cavani running to celebrate towards the fans while showing his Napoli shirt to tell them how much he cares for the team.

Mamma mia..... you bet Napoli fans must be singing, dancing, and praising Cavani as there you see EL Matador in the 70th minute scoring a third goal!  Yep.  Again the dynamic duo Pandev-Cavani.  It is Pandev to provide the assist following a corner conceded by AS Roma defender Leandro Castan.  Pandev with a shot towards the center finding Cavani for the headed shot defeating AS Roma goalkeeper Goicoechea in the bottom right corner.  It's the 16th goal for Cavani.  It means Cavani with 3 goals can take home the ball as souvenir. Wow, what a way to star the 2013!

Shortening the distance in the 72nd minute for AS Roma is forward Pablo Osvaldo with a right footed shot coming from the center defeating Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis in the bottom left corner. The assist by Miralem Pjanic.

Woh oh oh oh, things complicating for Roma when Referee Tagliavento gives a red card to Miralem Pjanic in the 74th minute.  It was the second yellow card for Pjanic and he leaves the pitch slowly while Napoli fans whistle him.   Roma remaining in 10.

Adding the cherry on top of the ice cream and the dagger in Rome's heart it is Napoli midfielder Christian Maggio.  Yep, in the 90th minute Napoli ending with a poker result because Maggio scores a left footed shot defeating AS Roma goalkeeper Goicoechea sending the ball to the bottom right corner.  Maggio removing his shirt starting celebrations and you can hear the fans singing the "Surdato 'nnamorato".. the party is on at the San Paolo.... New Year Celebration with a needed home victory to break the last curse and overtake the third position.
