Undoubtedly, one of the best defenders nowadays is AC Milan Brazilian defender Thiago Silva. The challenge for Milan is to not concede goals and score, period. I like the optimism from Thiago Silva although admitting the quality of Arsenal , also sounds confident about Milan's quality too. Here are the declarations from Thiago Silva during the press conference on Tuesday 14 February at the Centro Sportivo Milanello for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Arsenal to be played on Wednesday 15 February in San Siro stadium.

THIAGO SILVA: "The three points won against Udinese were very
important for our league campaign, we played a very good second half. We
hadn't played well in the first half, we made too many mistakes. In
this game against Arsenal we have to make as few mistakes as possible.
We play 180 minutes, if we get it wrong at home then we are out and so
we have to stay really focussed. Arsenal are a great team and we have to
watch everyone not just Van Persie. We have to watch all the players
because they are all quality. When you play against the bigger teams it
always lifts your game and this match will be a top level match.
Hopefully we can play our game and do well in defence even when we have
possession of the ball in attack. This is something we need to work on
and we have been in training. Henry? He has done so much, not just with
Arsenal but also with France. He is a great player and we'll have to
keep a close eye on him. If he gets the space he will score."
On Arsenal Forward Van Persie:
: “Van Persie? I don’t know if I’ll stop him, we’ll see Tomorrow. We need to enter the match with a focused frame of mind and the future will tell us what happens. Arsenal have a great squad of players, but so do we. It will be a great spectacle for the public, we hope to do well tomorrow also so that we can ease the pressure on ourselves for the second leg, but we know either Van Persie or Henry could decide the match in one moment.

On AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato
Pato? He’s a great player and a great guy, he’s working well and we hope to see him back as soon as possible at his top level. If he recovers in time, he could play tomorrow. He’s still young but I consider him one of the leaders of the squad, here we have many leaders.”
