Here is how AC Milan stand after Week 23.  After defeating Udinese, AC Milan are  in the first position with 47 points and a positive goal diff
erence of +25. Juventus are in the 2nd position with 45 points and a positive goal difference of +20. Hold on your horses. Hum? What? why?  Well, Milan leadership is only temporarily until Juventus play two postponed games Bologna v Juventus (Week 23)  and Parma v Juventus (Week 21) which were postponed for the bad weather.  If Juventus win both games, than, Juve will take the first position and the gap with Milan will be of 4 points.

Here are the declarations from AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri after defeating Udinese at the Friuli Stadium fr the Serie A Week 23 on Saturday 11 February 2012,  Udinese 1 - 2 AC Milan

"We played well up until the first goal then we conceded a goal and with the front line we had, it all became more difficult. We made a few too many mistakes then but in the second half the team played better, especially with Maxi Lopez who gave us a reference point up front. We played with more courage, a bit more carefree and Amelia made a few very good saves. There was a good reaction, a good spirit. It was important to get a result and get the points in the bag.

We were due a result. The game today was tough because Udinese had the chance to catch up with us. Now we have two points on Juventus but they’ve played two games less. We’ll see.

Allegri commenting on forward Maxi Lopez:  Maxi Lopez? He’s a Milan player, I put him on and he did well. I didn’t play him from the start because I wanted to play a different game, counting on the midfielders to move forward and counting on the speed of our forwards. It was the right choice up until when we conceded. I don’t know if the Juventus games being put off will condition the league. Potentially they are four points ahead of us, but at the moment we’re on top of the table.

"We made a decent start then the goal made things difficult because in attack, we didn’t have any physically powerful players which reduced potential solutions. In the second half, we were a bit more carefree and played with more courage. We were good and we were lucky but when you play with this kind of character it’s much more difficult that you’ll concede a goal. Maxim Lopez has different characteristics to Robinho and El Shaarawy. As a point man up front he did well and I’m happy. It means a lot to win in Udine, we’ve come here from three losses in five games. Many though there was something broken but this win gives us equilibrium and serenity. This is the spirit of the players and we have to keep on going like this.”

On El Shaarawy? He played a lot better in the second half and the lad has goals in his blood.”
