UEFA Champions League Round of 16

A historical game for Novara returning to the Giuseppe Meazza to play with Inter after 56 years.   Let Novara keep writing their history because this is also the first victory from coach Emiliano Mondonico against Inter.  By the way, Novara deating Inter also in the first round at the Silvio Piola stadium.   Incredible so, the one opening the score is precisely Novara!!!  Novara not winning an away game this season Novara 3 - 1 Inter.  Yep. A good way to return to the Meazza for Novara with the goal by forward Andrea Caracciolo following a fast break to splash electric shocks at the Meazza with his left footed shot coming from outside the box defeating Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar in the bottom left corner. And mamma mia the somber closeup from Inter president Massimo Moratti while the closeup from Caracciolo celebrating with opening arms his goal.  It's Caracciolo first goal with Novara.

The goal was right after the attempt to goal by Inter defender Luci though saved by Novara goalkeeper Samir Ujkani.

Close up from a satisfied Novara coach Emiliano Mondonico after the goal from Caracciolo, and you bet he is happy.   Novara resisted until the end and Ujkani stopping the last attempt by forward Giampaolo Pazzini.

A failed challenge for Inter not winning in the last four years to get back to the winning road.   Imagine, that even great Inter fan Valentino Rossi in his twitter @ValeYellow46
said, "ah,ho capito.quelli bianchi sono il Real Madrid, non il Novara."  being ironic as to Inter losing to Novara wearing white shirts referring to being Real Madird.

After the game, Inter are in the 5th  position with 36 points and a positive goal difference of +4.
Novara are in the 20th position with 16 points and a negative goal difference of -22.

Inter conceding 8 goals in the last 2 games failing to stand up and get back to the race for the Scudetto or at least the third position which is the minimum objective.  Inter losing at the Meazza and even playing with an extra man since the 80th minute when Referee Russo sent off Novara defender Radovanovic in the 80th minute.  On Week 21 the humiliation at the Renzo Barbera stadium Inter 4 - 4 Palermo . and on Weed 22 at the Olimpico di Roma stadium AS Roma 4 - 0 Inter

On paper Inter were favorites facing the team not only in the last position, but also with the worst defense this season conceding 42 goals and scoring 19.   Yet, the reality proved stats wrong.  Inter conceding  now 30 goals and scoring 34 goals.

Here is the thing.  Novara already defeating Inter this season twice!!!  The first round on Week 4 on September 20, 2011 the game ended  with Novara's victory at the Silvio Piola stadium.  Novara 3 - 1 Inter.  On the first round Coach for Inter was Gian Piero Gasperini and coach for Novara was Attilio Tesser both are sacked.  Novara coach now by Emiliano Mondonico and Inter by Claudio Ranieri.   Here comes the saying, "Never underestimate the small teams.

Top scorer for Inter is forward Diego Milito with 12 goals.
Top scorer for Novara is Rigoni with 6 goals.

Here is the official lineup from INTER by coach Claudio Ranieri:

 INTER: 1 Julio Cesar; 4 Zanetti, 2 Cordoba, 6 Lucio, 26 Chivu; 5 Stankovic, 19 Cambiasso, 18 Poli; 11 Alvarez, 10 Sneijder; 22 Milito.

Here is the official lineup from NOVARA by coach Emiliano Mondonico:

  NOVARA: 1 Ujkani; 4 Lisuzzo, 30 Centurioni, 28 Garcia; 15 Dellafiore, 17 Porcari, 23 Radovanovic, 10 Rigoni, 3 Gemiti; 27 Jeda; 29 Caracciolo.

Ok, guys, considering the relevance of the result with Novara who were considered the losers in this game being the last team of the season and instead silencing their critics and claiming their first away game... it's all worthy to bring the cheerleaders... so.... bring them in......   Let's Novara enjoy their moment for salvation.
