On this evening’s match in Prague: "It’s not a question of points on the table. We are Milan and we play to get results because if we come off the field having lost, then we come off the field with a sense of anger that we don’t need. It should be a good training session. Also because we’re playing on Tuesday and then on Sunday there’ll be time to rest.”
On Robinho: "I told him that a player in Serie B on Saturday missed an even worse goal that his. You’ve to stay calm. It could always be worse. You can’t put question marks over the player for two goals misses, even if they were sitters against Genoa and Barcelona. Robinho performed well in both games and gave the pass that lead to Ibra’s penalty. He has to be serene because in the end, like last year, what’ll count is that he has a good season and scored many goals. There are eyes on him now, but he’s not the only player in the world to have missed a goal.”
On the market: "We’re close to the transfer window so it’s normal to speak of Tevez and other things. But what counts is that until January, the squad is the players we have now and I’m very happy with them. We just have to do well from here to January and then we’ll see.”The team and the duel with Juventus: "We’re in good shape but last year we lost the last game in December to Roma. We’ll have to wait until the 20 December to see where we are. Juventus haven’t lost yet. At the moment, alongside us, Udinese and Lazio who play this evening, they’re one of the contenders. We’ll do our best for these three games which won’t be easy as two of them are away, but if we don’t let the tension fall, we’ll be able to do well. These three games are important to tget to the New Year in the best possible shape. ON the other hand, Juve don’t have to play in Europe. That team was put together to win the title, not to improve on their seventh place finish. They’re doing well. Unbeaten after 13 games and with results like the one they got in Naples means that the team has all the right cards to fight for the title. Marchisio? He’s become more important for them this year, but even in the past he had all the characteristics that he’s showing now. He wasn’t the Mister X from the summer anyway. There’s no way Juventus would sell him. Comapred to them we have the European games, but that’s definitely not a problem and it’s even easier when the players make themselves available. You can’t plan the league, you have to play it right to the end.”
On other themes: "Abbiati is doing much better, He’ll be looked at day by day. Inter? They’re 13 points away from us with a game in hand and 15 points from Juventus. That’s a lot because there are many teams ahead of them. It’s one thing racing against one other team, it’s another racing against many different teams. But they’re well equipped. When Maicon and Sneijder come back they’ll go on a run and get back in the league. The contract? I knew the president was serene about it after the Barcelona game when we spoke. He was the same when we spoke before the game against Genoa. I have no issue about it. There is no contract problem. What Galliani said was pleasing but there’s no problem on my part.”
Here are the declarations from AC Milan Captain Massimo Ambrosini:
"A Champions League match is never banal and can’t be taken for granted. It’s important for out prestige to honour this game. We also have to take into consideration that winning is a habit and that goes for the league as well. If I think back to when I played here in the UEFA cup 16 years ago I remember being emotional but I have to look at the present and the future. Me and my team mates have a lot left to give. We all know that winning the Champions League needs a bit of luck as well, if you look to the start of the season, there were suspensions and injuries. We’ve said from the start that there was a gap between us and Real Madrid and Barcelona that needed to be bridged. Real are growing and against Barcelona we saw the difference s between us two. But we’re growing as well, like Real. Last year in the last 16 we were in strange form. Once there, anything can happen.”
