Clamorous result. A thrilled ending with 2 penalties, one for Udinese and another for Inter and both failing to convert. Udinese breaking the curse and defeat Inter after 9 years in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium since 2002.
It's a special match for Udinese forward Antonio Di Ntale playing his 300 match in Serie A.
Udinese reaching now the first place with 27 points and a positive goal difference of +10 goals. It might sound U N B E L I E V A B L E... thought plain reality is that Inter are way way below Udinese in the 15th position with only 11 points and a negative goal difference of -4 Yep... Make no mistake, these are the facts, plain numbers. Ironically, Inter are doing super well in the Champions League qualifying as leader of their group while struggling en in Serie A.
Udinese returning from the Europa League with a golden 0-0 draw against Rennes on Wednesday. Inter will be preparing the Champions League match against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday December 7 at the Giuseppe Meazza. Simply put, Inter should put more emphasis in the Serie A to get away once and for all of the near falling down to the relegation area and be at least in the middle of the table.
Top scorer for Udinese is forward Antonio Di Natale with 9 goals only 1 goal behind the top scorer of the season Atalanta forward German Denis with 10.
Top scorer for Inter is forward Diego Milito with 3 goals.
Here is the official lineup from INTER by coach Claudio Ranieri:
Inter: 1 Julio Cesar; 4 Zanetti, 23 Ranocchia, 25 Samuel, 26 Chivu; 37 Faraoni, 8 Thiago Motta, 19 Cambiasso, 11 Alvarez; 7 Pazzini, 22 Milito
Udinese: 1 Handanovic; 17 Benatia, 5 Danilo, 32 Ferronetti; 8 Basta, 3 Isla, 66 Pinzi, 20 Asamoah, 27 Armero; 25 Torje; 10 Di Natale.
Opening the score is Udinese midfielder Mauricio Isla with the combo assist. The action starting by Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale turning to accommodate the ball to send to Antonio Floro Flores, then, Flores making the assist to Isla... In the 73rd minute, it is Isla with a right footed shot from the center of the box defeating Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar in the bottom left corner. Closeup showing the joy of Udinese players while the cold shower bucket falling in the Meazza.
Just to add some "spice" to the match, and two penalties, both failing to convert. In the 85th minute Referee Gervasoni giving a penalty to Udinese. Inter captain Javier Zanetti conceding the penalty after a foul on Udinese Asamoah inside the penalty box. Though, hello, hello, hello, this is not all.... there is more... Zanetti gets also a yellow card and since he already had one, it become an automatic RED CARD... the captain leaving the team with 10 men. Wait, wait, wait... there is more... Well, what else? Ah yeah... the moment for the penalty... It is Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale to take the penalty spot and when "most" expected to see Di Natale converting then... ta ta ta ta.. BAMMMMM HE MISSES!!! Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar saving the right footed shot by DI Natale denying hi the joy to shout for a goal. The immediate reaction from Julio Cesar with a "yeah!" and encouraging his teammates.
Hold your horses.... just three minutes later and there is another penalty!!!! Say what?! Yep, this time Referee Giervasoni giving a penalty to Inter conceded by Damiano Ferronetti for a foul on Inter forward Diego Milito remaining on the ground. Ok, now, there is time to grab an espresso shot .... the penalty? Ah yeah.... well, taking the penalty spot is forward Giampaolo Pazzini ... what happened? ah... ok,,, another espresso shot.... Well, you bet almost everybody at the Meazza were ready to grab at least this late "draw".... though..... play the drums..... louder.... Pazzini failing to convert the penalty sending his right footed shot all the way to the stars, the moon, the sun???? Ooopsss well, looks Pazzini slipping in the final shot.... did I forget to tell you that Ferronetti also got a RED CARD? Yep, it was his second yellow card.. so there you go..... a deja vu.....
Here is the video from DIRETTA STADIO 7 Gold with the narration by Filippo Tramontana, and you can tell the disappointment was "obvious."
