Hello my friends.   Here is the 2011 - 2012  Italy Serie A Preview Week 7 valid for Match day 7  on  Saturday October 15 and Sunday October 16,  2011.  The international break is over and some of the teams facing big problems with some players returning injured, mainly, Inter with forward Diego Forlan  injured after playing with Uruguay National football team for the 2014 World Cup qualifier.  Next week  we have Champions League and  3 Serie A teams playing Napoli vs Bayern Munich, AC Milan vs FC Bate, and Lille vs Inter

This week is the big leap of faith  for Juventus and Udinese to  be the sole leader.  At the moment Juventus and Udinese have 11 points each leading the table and a positive goal difference of +6  each. However, we might  have a turning point in the Serie A Standing if Juventus and Udinese lose their respective games. Why? Well, let me tell you that there are 3 teams with 10 points each Napoli, Palermo, and Cagliari and any of them can over take the leadership.  Wow, believe it or not.. oh yeah... this is a fact....

The whole conversation in Roma is the big absence from Captain Francesco Totti to miss the Derby della Capitale for injury. It's the  first derby for Lazio forwards Miroslav Klose and Cisse and there you see the challenge. Though   taking the captaincy for Roma in this derby is midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

The main challenge is for the two Milan teams doing so poorly this season and below expectations.  Yep, AC Milan in the 15th position with 5 points and Inter in the 17 position with 3 points. Both Milan teams having problems with the defense as they are with negative goal difference numbers. Yep! For real? Are you serious??? Yep, I am serious. Milan having a negative -3 goal difference and Inter a negative -4 goal difference. AMAZING! Oh well, time to step forward and win this week or there will be a real crisis.  Latest rumor is about the "hire for an emergency on loan" of former forward Samuel Eto'o to help this decadent Inter. Imagine the situation that Inter if losing against Catania can even go down the relegation area. Ouch.

Top scorer up to Week 6 is Genoa forward Rodrigo Palacio with 4 goals.  Last place is for Bologna with 1 point.

Catania - Inter
Angelo Massimino Stadium,
Saturday October 15, 201 at 18:00

Referee: ORSATO  Assistants:  DI LIBERATORE – MAGGIANI  Fourth Official: RIZZOLI

Things are getting complicated for Inter with increasing injured players being the latest forward Diego Forlan who is  expected to be out for about one month.  It's the main challenge for Catania coach Vincenzo Montella to grab a victory or even a draw at teh Angelo Massimino.   Inter coach Claudio Ranieri won't be directing the  team because he is suspended for  game.

A rushed  recovery for Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar who was sent home  after injuring during the  international break with his country Brazil national football team for the 2014 World Cup qualification.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players for Catania.  Two suspended players for Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia, Obi and coach Claudio Ranieri all for 1 match game.

Here is the probable formation for CATANIA (4-3-3): 21 Andujar, 12 Marchese, 14 Bellusci, 3 Spolli, 66 Legrottaglie, 33 Capuano, 4 Almiron, 10 Lodi, 24 Delvecchio, 17 Gomez, 18 Bergessio, 32 Catellani

Here is the probable formation for INTER (4-3-1-2): 1 Julio Cesar, 13 Maicon,   6 Lucio,  25 Samuel, 25 Chivu, 4 Zanetti, 19 Cambiasso, 77 Muntari, 5 Stankovic, 28 Zarate, and 7 Pazzini

AC Milan - Palermo

San Siro Stadium, Saturday October 15, 2011 at 20:45

Referee: VALERI   Assistants:  DOBOSZ – MARZALONI  Fourth Official:  ROMEO

Will history repeat?  It's maybe a superstition... last year Milan defeating Palermo  putting them at the top of the table and winning the 18th Scudetto.. However,  this time even if Milan win, they will not reach the top as having only 5 points will add to 8 in case of victory.

Gossiping about  not a happy Ibrahimovic but feeling "tired"... then, forward Antonio Cassano with this declarations of quitting in 3 years..   Allegri regrouping his players while recovering defender Philippe Mexes who might make his debut with Milan and in San Siro after his transfer from AS Roma.  Another good news for the rossoneri is the recovery from forward Robinho and super energized for this game to start scoring and do his "dancing" as I heard on Radio Sportiva.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  One suspend player for AC Milan:  midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng.  One suspended player for Palermo:  defender Federico Balzaretti and two players with one yellow card Acquah and Mauricio Pinilla.  Bad news for Palermo because forward Fabrizio Miccoli is not  fully recovered.  All the responsibility in the attack will be up to Uruguay forward Abel Hernandez.

It's an upside "pineapple cake" here.  Usually, we see AC Milan leading and Palermo struggling for salvation.  Hey, not this time.  Yep.  Palermo rocking Balboa in the 4th position with 10 points waving  from above to the defending champions AC Milan down in the 15th position with only 5 points and a negative -3 goal difference.

It's also an emotional  game for the ex Palermo midfielder Antonio Nocerino who played for Palermo from 2008 to 2011 making 106 caps and scoring 6 goals.  Nocerino transferred  to Milan on August 31, 2011.

Stas in San Siro are in favor of AC Milan.  Out of the 24 games:

20 victores AC Milan

2 draws

2 victoires Palermo

59 goals AC Milan

16 goals Palermo

Last time the two teams  palyed in San Siro on November 10, 2010 the smiling faces wer for Milan with the gaols from Pato, Ibrahimovic and Robinho.

Here is the probable formation for AC MILAN (4-3-1-2): 32Abbiati, 25 Bonera, 33 Thiago Silva, 13 Nesta, 19 Zambrotta, 22 Nocerino,  4 Van Bommel,  10 Seedorf,  7 Robinho, 11 Ibrahimovic

Here is the probable formation for PALERMO (4-4-2):   33 Tzorvas, 31 Pisano, 3 Silvestre, 8 Migliaccio, 2 Mantovani, 14 Bertolo, 5 Barreto, 7 Della Rocca, 17 Ilicic,  9 Hernandez

Napoli - Parma
San Paolo Stadium, Satruday October 15, 2011 at 20:45

Referee: MAZZOLENI   Assistants: DE LUCA – PETRELLA  Fourth Official:  DAMATO

Current standing is Napoli in the 3rd position with 10 pints and a positive goal difference of +6.  A victory might put Napoli in the top leadership if Juventus and Udinese lose their respective games.  Parma are in the 12th position with 6 points and a negative goal difference of -4.  Napoli coach  Walter Mazzarri looking for his trio to grabthe home victory with Marek Hamsik, Edinson Cavani, and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Stats in  favor of Napoli with 17 matches played in San Paolo stadium including 12 in Serie A, 4 in Serie B and 1 in Coppa Italia.

9 victories Napoli
6 draw
2 victories Parma
26 goals Napoli
17 goals Parma

Last victory from Napoli on November 7 2010, 2-0 with goals by  the one and only forward star Edinson Cavani.  Question is how fit is Cavani after returning from  Uruguay and whether he is ready for all 90 minutes.

Last draw on December 23 2000 with a 2-2 goals by Micoud and Milosevic for Parma.  For Napoli Pecchia and Amoruso.

Last victory Parma is last year. So chances are pretty high for Parma to cause with an upset with an inspired forward Sebastian Giovinco.  Parma defeating Napoli at the San Paolo on April 0 200 with 2-3.  Scoring for  Napoli, Quagliarella and Marek Hamsik.  Scoring for Parma Antonelli, Lucarelli, and Jimenez.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players for Napoli nor Parma.

Here is the probable formation for NAPOLI (3-4-2-1): 1 De Sanctis, 14 Campagnaro, 28 Cannavaro, 6 Aronica, 11 Maggio, 88 Inler, 23 Gargano, 8 Dossena, 17 Hamsik,   22 Lavezzi, and 7 Cavani

Here is the probable formation for PARMA (4-4-2): 83 Mirante, 5 Zaccardo, 29 Paletta, 6 Lucarelli, 18 Gobbi, 7 Biabiany,  4 Morrone, 28 Jadid, 23 Modesto, 21 Giovinco, 11 Floccari

Lazio - AS Roma
Olimpico di Roma Stadium

Referee: TAGLIAVENTO  Assistants:  GHIANDAI – GIORDANO  Fourth Official: CELI

It's a direct encounter to break the lock. Lazio  are in the 7th position with 8 points and a positive goal difference of +1.  AS Roma are in the 6th position with 8 points and a positive goal difference of +2.

What a challenge for  AS Roma coach Luis Enrique playing his first Roma derby!!!!! Not only him, but also all new players from both sides including Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti,  forwards Miroslav Klose and Cisse.  For Roma  new players Heinse, Pjanic, Osvaldo and even Bojan, and there you see the challenge without captain Francesco Totti  missing for injury.   Totti is the player with maximun appearances in the Derby della Capitale with 28 appearances. Just too bad, Totti will miss this one.  Though   taking the captaincy for Roma in this derby is midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

So far the record  with most goals scored in one Derby della Capitale is for ex AS Roma forward Vincenzo Montella with 4 goals in one game on March 11, 2002 with Roma wining 5-1.   Will somebody break this record in this game?

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players neither for Lazio nor AS Roma.

Here is the probable formation for LAZIO (4-3-1-2): 83 Marchetti, 29 Konko, 33 Stankevicius, 3 Dias, 26 Radu, 15 Gonzalez, 24 Ledesma, 32 Brocchi,  8 Hernanes, 9 Cissè, 25 Klose,

Here is the probable formation for AS ROMA (4-3-3): 24 Stekelenburg,  87 Rosi, 29 N. Burdisso,  5 Heinze, 3 Jose Angel, 20 Perrotta, , 16 De Rossi, 7 Pizarro, 15 Pjanic, 9 Osvaldo,  14 Bojan

Atalanta - Udinese
Atleti Azzurri d'italia Stadium

Referee: GERVASONI   Assistants:  PASSERI – GIACHERO  Fourth Official: GALLIONE

Here is the disciplinary situation.  One suspended player for Atalanta:  Captain Cristiano Doni for 3 years and 6 months, two players with one yellow card Masiello and Capelli.  No suspended players for Udinese.

Here is the probable formation for ATALANTA (4-4-1-1): 47Consigli, 25 A. Masiello, 3 Lucchini, 5 Manfredini,  13 Pelusso, 7 Schelotto, 21 Cigarini,  32 Brighi, 22 Padoin, 11 Moralez,  19 Denis.

Here is the probable formation for UDINESE (3-5-1-1): 1 Handanovic, 17 Benatia, 5 Danilo, 32 Ferronetti,   8 Basta, 3 Isla, 66 Pinzi, 20 Asamoah, 27 Armero, 25 Torje, 10 Di Natale

Chievo Verona - Juventus
Marc'Antonio Bentegodi Stadium

Referee:  DE MARCO  Assistants:  ROSI – MANGANELLI  Fourth Official: BERGONZI

Juventus flying high in the first position with 11 points and a positive goal difference of +6 goals, same as Udinese.  Chievo Verona in the 8th position with 8 points and a positive goal difference of+1.  It's a "yes" moment for Juventus making a good start compared to last season where they did not qualify neither for the Champions League nor the UEFA Europa League.  Looks like coach "Antonio Conte" has found the magic formula for a revival with the incorporation from ex AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo being an instrumental player for their success.

Chievo will have the counter remedy for Pirlo with American midfielder Michael Bradley.  Will Bradley be decisive to create a faster midfeld?

So far the stats in favor of Juventus:
18 games
12 victories Juventus
 5 draws
1 victory Chievo Verona on January 17, 2010
35 goals Juventus
17 goals Chievo

Chievo Verona forward Sergio Pellissier making 304 appearances for Chievo, scoring 96 goals and his only hat-trick in his career made  in Torino against Juventus on April 5, 2009.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players neither for Chievo nor Juventus.

Here is the probable formation for CHIEVO VERONA (4-3-1-2): 54 Sorrentino, 20 Sardo, 4 Morero, 12Cesar,13Jokic, 6 Bradley, 16L.Rigoni, 56Hetemaj, 8Cruzado, 31 Pellissier, 77 Thereau

Here is the probable formation for JUVENTUS (4-2-4): 1 Buffon, 26 Lichtsteiner, 15 Barzagli, 3 Chiellini, 6 Grosso, 8 Marchisio, 21 Pirlo, 27 Krasic, 22 Vidal, 14 Vucinic,  7 Pepe

Cesena - Fiorentina

Dino Manuzzi Stadium, at 12:30

Referee: RUSSO  Assistants: PRETI – VUOTO  Fourth Official:  GUIDA

It's the time for ex Fiorentina forward Adrian Mutu to stand and deliver now.  Mutu transferred to Cesena  on June 23, 2011 with a 2-year contract after playing 5 years with Fiorentina from 2006 to 2011 making 112 appearances and scoring 54 goals.  Fiorentina are in the 9th position with 7 points and a positive goal difference of +2.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended plaeyrs for Cesena.  No suspended players for Fiorentina only one with a yellow card: Behrami.

Here is the probable formation for CESENA (4-3-3): 1 Antonioli, 18 RIcci,  25 Von Bergen, 2 Rodriguez,  6 Lauro, 18 Parolo,  5 Guana, 8 Candreva, 10 Mutu 7 Eder, 55 Martinez

Here is the probable formation for FIORENTINA (4-3-3): 1 Boruc, 16 Cassani, 5 Gamberini, 14 Natali, 23 Pasqual, 85 Behrami, 18 Montolivo, 21 Lazzari, 24Cerci, 10 Santiago Silva, 8 Jovetic

Cagliari - AC Siena
Sant'Elia Stadium

Referee:  TOMMASI   Assistants: GALLONI – LA ROCCA  Fourth Official: TOZZI

Here is the disciplinary situation. No suspended players for Catania.  No suspended player for AC Siena just one with one yellow card Terzi.

Here is the probable formation for CAGLIARI (4-3-1-2): 1 Agazzi, 14 Pisano, 21 Canini, 13 Astori, 31 Agostini, 8 Biondini, 5 Conti, 4 Nainggolan, 7 Cossu, 27 Larrivey, 19 Thiago Ribeiro

Novara - Bologna
Silvio Piola Stadium

Referee: DOVERI   Assistants: VIAZZI – LIBERTI  Fourth Official:  MERCHIORI

Knock, knock, knock Bologna... anybody home??  Bologna are in the last position of the table with only 1 point and having the worst defense this season conceded so far 10 goals while scoring only 2 making a negative goal difference of -8.  wow. !!!!   Novara, the newcomers from Serie B, are having a better season in the 13th position with 5 points and an even goal difference scoring 10 goals while conceding 10 goals..
