CSKA Moscow - Inter
Here are the declarations from Inter Captain Javier Zanetti during the press conference on the eve of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage match against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday September 27, 2011 in Moscow. Inter are in the last position of Group B with "0" points.
"I've been lucky enough to play many times in Russia and against some big teams. They're always very tough games. For example, I remember playing here years ago in the UEFA Cup, when we won 2-1 thanks to Ronaldo. My most recent memory is the Champions League quarter-final in 2010, when Sneijder's goal put us through to the semis."

"Tomorrow is a crucial game for us because we lost the first one. We hope to do as well as we did in Bologna and start racking up some points so that we can qualify from the group."

The topic switched to Gian Piero Gasperini and his sacking, which it has been said was partly influenced by the players' opinions. "The first thing I want to stress is that we're very sorry about what happened with Gasperini, because I consider him to be a very competent coach, but unfortunately we weren't able to go forward together. You have to accept the criticism but you also have to consider how much of what is said and written is actually true. The only thing that I'd be really sorry about is if the Inter fans let themselves be influenced by all those things."

Zanetti went on to speak about the current coach: "As an opponent I always had great respect for Ranieri; now that he's with us hopefully we'll win things together. We got off to a good start in Bologna and we want to repeat that here tomorrow."
News of Zanetti's appearance record for Inter has reached Russia too, as a local journalist asked if he realises how much he has played. The captain replied: "It is an extraordinary achievement and I think it will only sink in properly once I stop playing, because at the moment I honestly find it hard to believe that I've done so much for the great Nerazzurri family."
