Good morning my friends.  Welcome to the first PREVIEW of the 2011 - 2012 Italian Serie A season.   Defending champion is AC Milan winner of the 2010 -2011 Scudetto.  This season we are starting with 12 new coaches and a mixed salad of transferred players, new players...  So, we are in for an interesting ride with debuts. Latest heavy "good bye" from Serie A was the ex Inter forward Samuel Eto'o leaving to join Russian team Anzhi. Bad start for AS Roma and Udinese both eliminated from Europa League and Champions League, respectively.

 I will post the PREVIEW every Thursday and you can post your predictions.  At the end of the season there could be only "ONE winner." with a $100 (100 dollars prize).  In case of more than one with same amount of predictions, winner will be selected based on  frequency of winning, weeks participating, and we will determine together the additional regulations to have just ONE WINNER like in Serie A where only 1 team win the Scudetto.

The only team starting with negative numbers is Atalanta having -6 points after the Scomesse scandal.   The other 19 teams start with equal "0" point.

Lazio is the only survival Serie A team remaining in Europa League, thumbs up.  So, you bet the Olimpico stadium will welcome the heroes and they would want nothing else than a victory.  Will Chievo resist or stop the party?

 Key player for Lazio will be new forward ex Bayern Munich Miroslav Klose. Sadly, goalkeeper Fernando Muslera left the team and goalkeeper now is Bizzarri to lead the team.

Chievo key player is forward Sergio Pellissier and now young forward Alberto Paloschi transferring from AC Milan.

New Roma coach Luis Enrique not starting a too happy relation with Roma fans for his exclusion of captain Francesco Totti in the first Europa League game, plus leaving out also Marco Borriello.   Roma is now "American made" and you bet new owners are looking for resutls to see Roma back among the top 3 teams.   Question is whether Luis Enrique has what it takes to command the Roman gladiators?

Roma out of Europa League losing in global result at the Olimpico against Slovan Bratislava.  First Leg in favor of Slovan 1-0.  Second leg ending 1-1 and global result for Slovan 2 - 1 Roma. It is an uphill road to climb the mountain for Roma. 

As for Bologna, again, the everlasting hope and savior is forward Marco Di Vaio.  Bologna having now forward Robert Acquafresca to pair with Di Vaio and with the combo of youth-experience we might see many goals this season for Bologna. 

Roma are in the building process. Yep, not only key players transferring to other teams such as goalkeeper, defender Philippe Mexes to Milan, Vucinic to Juventus.  We are looking to see debut from goalkeeper Stekelenburg in Serie A along Lamela and Bojan.

Lecce is the "cinderella in this game." On paper favorite is Inter, but we never know.  Will Lecce cause an upset at the Meazza?  New Lecce goalkeeper Julio Cesar transferring for Roma could be the difference.

This is a promising match for redemption.  Yep, Udinese after elimination from the Champions League by Arsenal will look to revamp their season by defeating Juventus.   On the other hand, Juventus with new coach Antonio Conte has no other option than start winning their first games to see "some light at the end of the tunnel" to return to the first  top positions.

Juventus this season are in "a must campaign" to recover their lost prestige since not qualifying this season neither for Champions League nor Europa League. Simply put, Juventus out of the main big league.  So, it is a tough match at the Friuli with both teams " on a must win."
