Ranocchia responded, "I've been training with Walter Samuel for 3 or 4 months since he returned from injury so we've had plenty of time to get to know each other. It's no problem whatsoever; if anything it's an honour," added the Italy centre-back.Ranocchia was then asked about his change of shirt number compared to last season: "Now I have No. 23, which used to be Materazzi's number, because one day Marco phoned me and told me he would like me to take his number. For me it was both a pleasure and an honour.
"There has been a lot of development in China compared to when I came here for the 2008 Olympics, and it's great to see so much progress being made," was Andrea's reply when the Chinese journalists pointed out that it wasn't his first time in their country. "The Olympics was an unforgettable experience and I'm sure I'll be able to say the same about this new experience," the defender rounded off with a smile.
After Ranocchia, it was the turn for Ricardo Alvarez, "It's a hugely important achievement for me to be playing for Inter, and it's an honour to be representing the club in China. I hope that Inter can do well in this Super Cup, in fact I'm sure they can and my team-mates and I will do everything we can to achieve success here. We're extremely determined. Inter and China together is a union to be respected, because this country deserves respect," said the Argentinian.
"I'm ready and available to serve the coach and the team whenever I'm called upon," was Alvarez's simple reply when asked if Wesley Sneijder's departure might mean more playing time for him.
