A happy AC Milan VP Adriano Galliani with coach Massimiliano Allegri

ADRIANO GALLIANI:
“It’s the eighth Scudetto and the 27th title in the Berlusconi era. We’re very glad. With all due respect, Inter’s dominance in the past five years should have ended earlier. Someone had to stop them and only we could do it. We’re staying here in Rome because we have to prepare for the upcoming Cup game against Palermo. We won the league title, but we must try to win another trophy here on May 29. It’s going to be a very difficult game at the Barbera, but we’ll do our best. We’ll pay as much attention and show as much commitment against Palermo as always. For this deep squad credit goes to Silvio Berlusconi, who provided the necessary financial support both in the summer and in January for our transfer campaigns. At the end of the game Van Bommel gave me a hug and thanked me for having signed him in January. I hope that our fans are satisfied now. We have to be grateful to our president for what he’s done. After five years, the Milan supporters finally have a reason to be happy. We’he been at the top of the table for 25 rounds and we’re going to extend it to 28. It’s something extraordinary.
Thiago Silva seems to play effortlessly because he’s too good.
Abate is fantastic, he’s the most improved player of the season. His speed is incredible”.
AC MILAN COACH MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI:
“I think the lads have done a tremendous job. It’s been important that they’ve accepted my decisions, it proves that the group is united. We brought everyone to Rome, but 10 players had to watch game from the stands. I’m very happy: it’s my first year Milan and I’ve just won the Scudetto - I’m still getting used to the idea. I thank the president, who wanted me at the helm of team, and I also thank Mr Galliani and the fans. The derby and the match at Fiorentina paved the way to the title. We’ve spent 26 rounds at the top of the standings, we couldn’t have asked for anything more”.
ARIEDO BRAIDA:
“It’s been a great season, we won the title against the odds. We’ve played as a top team and I believe that with a couple of changes, this squad could give a lot of satisfaction to the fans. Milan are a big family and all the lads have been marvellous. They won thanks to their tenacity. Our president is unique, he’s always generous. We can only thank him for what he’s done and he’ll do. There always are margins for improvement and I’m sure we’ll do even better. Round by round, watching the training sessions and being around the team you could feel that there’s been a great will to win this championship. We have a coach who’s proved he has what it takes to lead a top team. He’s not someone who loves the limelight, but he’s a down-to-earth, good tactician.
Ibra has definitely been important, but when he didn’t play the team won just the same, demonstrating that Milan aren’t Ibra-dependent. My compliments to all of our players. I think that Barbara Berlusconi will have lots of occasions to win other trophies in the coming years”.
MARIO YEPES:
“I’m very satisfied, very happy. I believe we deserved this Scudetto. We’re a real team, we’ve demonstrated it game after game”.
ANTONIO CASSANO:
“I’ve been saying since February that we would win it... even when our rivals closed the gap on us... but then we always restored our advantage”.
ALESSANDRO NESTA:
“We all deserved this title after being at the top of the standings for the whole season. Everyone has been fundamental, but special praise goes to Ignazio [Abate]. He played in another position last season, but he’s managed to adapt to his new role perfectly. He’s had an extraordinary season”.
RINO GATTUSO:
“This is one of our most important triumphs, because it came at a time when people said we were finished. They said I and some of my teammates were former players. I knew we could win it when the boss began making big decisions. He’s done very well especially managing the dressing room. Before him, only Ancelotti could make us accept to sit out. Last season, those who didn’t play, stirred controversy. The boss has demonstrated that he can handle even the biggest stars. Seedorf has been awesome, in the last six games he’s done very, very well. As long as there will be Galliani and Berlusconi, Milan will be a winning team. Milan are a family, a club that makes you feel at home and because of this, no one wants to leave”.
CLARENCE SEEDORF:
“This victory is just what we needed. The team showed great sacrifice and unity in a delicate game. We did well, we even came close to scoring in the second half. After the final whistle, all of us let our emotions go. I think that this triumph will brings enthusiasm and conviction to the team and in the future we’ll look to win big honours. This Scudetto is for all our fans”.
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC:
“We’re an elite team, the guys have won even without me. We got over some difficult periods and in the end won the title. I hope to make history with Milan, here I feel at home. I’m sorry for having missed five matches due to suspension. Now we must only concentrate on the Italian Cup, but then we want to celebrate together with the fans at the San Siro.
I came to Milan to win and that’s what we've done. I’ve won at each ot Italy’s three biggest clubs. I’ve spent 6 years in this country and I’ve won the title at the end of each season. Now we need to take one thing at a time: hopefully, we’ll qualify for the final on Tuesday; we’ll have enough time to think about the next season later. We want to win three titles. I thank the president, who brought me to Milan, where I’ve found happiness again“.
MARCO AMELIA:
“It’s the crowning moment of a long and tough season. By winning the second derby we took the wind out of Inter’s sails, thus making a huge step towards a Scudetto. Being part of this squad is really gratifying, our dressing room is full of great men. The unity of this group is demonstrated by the fact that even those who play less make sure to be ready when called upon. It wouldn’t be bad winning the Italian Cup as well. Milan are a great team and as such always aim to win everything. When the Rossoneri called, I knew I wouldn’t play as much as I used to, but I wanted to be at a winning team. Being part of the group that brings the Scudetto back to Milan is a great joy. Now a new winning cycle is beginning, a bright future lies ahead. I’m sorry for the fans because we can’t be with them in piazza Duomo, but we’ll make up for it next week”.
IGNAZIO ABATE:
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve belonged to this club for 10 years and I never could imagine I would win the Scudetto one day. It’s been a fantastic year. I thank Mr Galliani and the boss, who have always showed me support and who wanted to keep me at all costs”.
MARK VAN BOMMEL:
“When I enter the San Siro I always have goosebumps. It’s an incredible feeling. The important thing is team, not me. My compliments to the club, and thanks to Mr Galliani for having brought me to Milan!”
MASSIMO AMBROSINI:
“It’s a pity we’re not in Milan celebrating with the fans, but we’ll make up for it next week. This team has had the strength to change its face several times and this is a great quality of our group. Everyone has felt important. Even in January, we signed important players, like Van Bommel, and everyone has done his part”.
CHRISTIAN ABBIATI:
“Now we should just celebrate, without talking about individuals. All of us have played an important role. I would like to thank everyone who works behind the scenes at Milanello”.
