First Leg: Inter 0 - 1 AC Milan with goal by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 5th minute, November 14, 2010.

The awaiting period for the Milan Derby is over...  we are now just knocking at the door for the Grand Gala in San Siro to watch the super match between AC Milan vs Inter for the bragging rights of the city of Milan. Boy, oh boyyyyyyyy I can't wait for this game!  Already have two bags of popcorn ready to pop in the microwave while following the game with LIVE COMMENTARY here in the blog.  I invite you follow me and live the passion for the Milan Derby.

Fact is that AC Milan either keep the leadership with a victory or a draw or Inter will become the new leader of the Serie A if defeating AC Milan. This is the pure fact. On a boosting note, Inter being the only Italian Serie A team still battling in the Champions League while AC Milan were eliminated.

Last season Leonardo was coaching AC Milan and he lost both Milan Derbies to ex Inter coach Jose Mourinho.  This season, the one holding the key is AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri winning his first Milan Derby on November 14, 2010 against ex Inter coach Rafael Benitez.

Oh you bet, you will have the "legendary" figures from AC Milan and Inter attending the game. The morbo on seeing how the ex Leonardo and now considered a traitor by many AC Milan fans do with Inter.  Don't even want to imagine what will happen if Leonardo manage to grab the victory because it means taking "away the Scudetto" from Milan's hands after Milan had a wide margin of 13 points difference in December 2010..

These are the possible scenarios:

 1.  If AC Milan defeat Inter, Milan will continue the sole leader with 65 points, Inter remaining with 60 points

Points difference in this scenario: 5 in favor of AC Milan

2.If  AC Milan, draw with Inter,  AC Milan will continue to be the leader with 63  while Inter will reach 61 points and might risk losing the second position in case of Napoli defeating Lazio in the San Paolo Stadium.  Napoli have 59 points, but if defeating Lazio will reach to 62 points and Inter will go down to the third position.

Points difference in this scenario for AC Milan - Inter: 2 points in favor of AC Milan.

3.If  Inter defeat AC Milan, then fasten your seat belts and  prepare for a rollercoaster end of the season... play the drums because we will see Inter as new leaders sending AC Milan to the second position.  Inter will have 63 points while AC Milan remaining with 62 points..

Points difference in this scenario: 1 point in favor of Inter.

MILAN DERBY KEY PLAYERS

..

3 Key players for AC Milan: Goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, Defender Thiago Silva, and forward Alexandre Pato

Definitely, goalkeeper Christian Abbiati the solid wall for Milan giving the confident feeling.  As for defense, number one is Alessandro Nesta. Yet, the youth and future of Milan with defender Thiago Silva is where the main "back bone" can be found to sto  Eto'o and Pazzini.  Speed from Thiago Silva a plus.  Hesitating between Pato and Robinho for the attack.  Let's say it is up to Pato to claim the pride for Milan.. though we may have the Brazilian combo package with assist and goal by the two Braizlians Robinho and Pato.  In which order?  oh well... in any order.

Wild card:   Robinho.

FC Internazionale Milano3 Key players for FC Inter: Goalkeeper Julio Cesar, forward Samuel Eto'o, and midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Goalkeeper Julio Cesar is key on not allowing goals. However, the one fabricating the game, the "creativity" in the midfield belongs to Wesley Sneijder  as for finalizer, you bet Samuel Eto'o is the guy to trust for Inter.  Eto'o once energized can carry not only the team, but also encourage the fans to get involved in the game.

Comments by 3 Ex AC Milan coach on the Milan Derby

Carlo Ancelotti, who won five of his first six derbies, had to say to La Nuova Sardegna: “I believe in Allegri’s team. I talk to my former players every now and then and I know their states of mind. I know they have to get over some difficulties and I’m sure they’ll do everything to win the championship ahead of Inter, Napoli and Udinese. The international break is very useful for injury-ridden teams. Milan, for example, should have Boateng back for the weekend. The message I send to Milan is what I would send to all the other teams: believe in yourselves and play entertaining and spectacular football”.

On the first page of its sports section, today’s Il Giornale published an interview with Alberto Zaccheroni: “My personal relationships were excellent during my three-year stay at Milanello. Galliani’s presence allowed me to work independently and in absolute tranquility. We were in perfect synch with the president, except for one thing: I used to field a three-man defence, while he was convinced that we should have played with four at the back. I went my own way and after our failure in the Champions League I got sacked. But there were no arguments, nor remorse. From a football standpoint, Allegri is very rational, he has his ideas and is not afraid of applying them. The derby in which Milan came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2? We didn’t have too big illusions at half-time, Milan were better than us. My only regret is having left in the middle of the season, despite our fourth place position”.

Finally, Giovanni Trapattoni was quoted in La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Going into the derby as favourites, my team was often left disappointed in the end. Now the Nerazzurri are the favourites, this is what the rules of football suggest. If Milan want to win the championship, they have to stop Inter now, in the derby.”
