Ukraine - Italy  (before the match)
International Friendly Game
FIFA Ranking Ukraine 33rd position  with 707 points
Italy 11th position with 957 points

Closing the EURO 2012 qualification test with Slovenia 0 - 1 Italy thanks to the goal by Italy midfielder Thiago Motta in the 73rd minute. Italy now prepares for the International Friendly game against Ukraine to be played on Tuesday March 29, 2011 in Ukraine.

Italy Head coach Cesare Prandelli not taking this match lightly.  On the contrary, it is now time to continue the rebuilding of the "new Italy."  Stats are in favor of Italy.

In six games with Ukraine National team, Italy winning five and drawn once including the one in the 2006 World Cup quarterfinals where Italy defeated Ukraine 3-0.

There are no Serie A players called up in the Ukraine National Football team. Yet, there is ex AC Milan forward Andriy Schevchenko as Captain with 100 appearances and scoring 45 goals for Ukraine.   A deja vu with Italy goalkeeper Gigi Buffon since the times of the famous final Champions League where Shevchenko converted the winning penalty leading to AC Milan defeating Juve to win the Champions League in May 2003...

Here is the official starting lineup from Italy National Football team for the match against Slovenia valid for the EURO 2012 Qualification from Group C.  Surely, we will see a different formation against Ukraine giving more  playing time to the ones under observation.  For example Juventus forward Alessandro Matri might start with Giuseppe Rossi... what about goalkeeper?? Will Prandelli give resting time to Buffon?
