Thank you, Mark and congratulations!

Azzurri manager, Cesare Prandelli, was quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport on new players from Internazionale with the National team, his opinion on American ownership at AS Roma and the recent friendly against the Germans:

DORTMUND, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 09: Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli during the International Friendly match between Germany and Italy on February 9, 2011 in Dortmund, Germany.

AMERICANIZZAZIONE DELLA ROMA — "Perchè no?

On Inter:

"It's an important signal that a club of the highest quality has acquired players (Pazzini and Ranocchia) in our national team pool."

On American ownership at AS Roma:

"Why not? The model works well in the Premiership for the others (American owners)."

*** Quote of the Week ***

On "oriundi" or naturalized Italian players:

"Ours (he and his staff) is to look for something new. Inserting into the group the 'new Italians.' Because they asked to wear the Italy shirt. We then at every match want to send out signals to the public. Football must unite and overcome obstacles."

On Germany x Italy:

"We are growing under many points of reference. The tie was fair. A defeat would have been a mockery. These lads have quality. If they line up on the pitch properly in a tactical sense, it's easy to produce good presentations. We played a good game. More intensity in the second half but also in the first half we had our chances."

Fabio Simplicio of AS Roma was quoted in il Corriere dello Sport on the key match against Napoli, cutting the gap and winning the Scudetto race:

"For us, the match against Napoli is an important one that we have to approach with all of the fight and calmness that we have. We'll look to bring home the three points that would be very important. To give up on the dream of winning the Scudetto? No, surely not. The objective is not up in smoke because there are still many games to play. You can make it up (the points in the table), let's see."

Julian Movsesian, one of the partners at DiBenedetto AS Roma LLC, was quoted by ForzaRoma.info about the status of the takeover and if the new ownership group would change the current team directors:

On the status of the deal:

"We are close but the deal is not yet completed."

On a potential change of club management:

"I can't comment too much because we are not yet at the finish line."

Gigi Buffon of Juventus and the Azzurri discussed globalization, Thiago Motta and his perspectives on the German friendly in La Gazzetta dello Sport:

One of the great gentlemen in the game, Gigi Buffon, with his opposite number, Manuel Neuer, after the friendly in Dortmund.

On Thiago Motta:

"Football and the world are going forward in this way. Just like globalization. It's important to follow the rules. Then, in this specific case, to field a player at the level of Thiago Motta is an advantage."

On the friendly with Germany:

"I saw signs of a real team. The manager is helping us a great deal to rediscover a conviction that was lost after a string of poor results. There are young players getting ready to take off. It's up to them to demonstrate a desire to become champions."

Giuseppe Rossi of Villarreal and the Azzurri dedicated his goal against Germany to his deceased father, Fernando, and also discussed his partnership with Marco Borriello in comments made to La Gazzetta dello Sport:

Italy's players (L-R) defender Domenico Criscito, midfielder Alberto Aquilani, defender Leonardo Bonucci, striker Giuseppe Rossi and midfielder Sebastian Giovinco celebrate after equalising during the friendly football match Germany vs Italy on February 9, 2011 in Dortmund , western Germany. The match ended in an 1-1 draw.

"I dedicate my goal to my father who passed away a year ago."

"A draw serves us well. We should continue like this. With Marco Borriello, the understanding was good. Marco plays well and is one who fights and moves (into space.) But all of the strikers in this team are great players. We felt that we could also win the game. Because we were playing well and the team was running and fighting. We felt we could score a second goal but unfortunately, it didn't come. But I repeat. It was a great tie against a great team on a difficult field."

Thiago Motta of Internazionale and the Azzurri on his international debut quoted by il Corriere dello Sport:

DORTMUND, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 09: Thiago Motta of Italy during the International Friendly match between Germany and Italy on February 9, 2011 in Dortmund, Germany.

"To wear this blue shirt gives me a completely different emotion than everything up until now in football. Tomorrow (Wednesday's friendly) for me will be a beautiful day. I feel privileged. Mameli's hymn? (The Italian national anthem.) I know it but don't know how to sing."

Motta's singing reference reminded me of something from a few years ago by Mauro Camoranesi. "Camo" was born in Argentina but became a naturalized Italian citizen and won the World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006.

"I don't know the words to Mameli's hymn but then, I don't even know the words to the Argentinean anthem."

Here is my quote: "Julian Movsesian said that he used to support AC Milan? I respect his honesty and welcome the change in ownership. I will bite my thumb off if Milan wins the Scudetto before we do."
