Italy Head Coach Cesare Prandelli calling up 23 players for the International Friendly game GERMANY vs ITALY on Wednesday February 9, 2011 at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund at 20:45.  Among the news are the called up for the first time from Inter midfielder Thiago Motta, Parma midfielder Sebastian Giovinco, and  young sensation Juventus forward Alessandro Matri and, of, course, the return from beloved icon goalkeeper Gigi Buffon after 8 months.  Gigi injured during the 2010 World Cup South Africa game Italy vs Paraguay on June 14, 2010.

  Players will meet at the Technical Center of Coverciano on Monday, February 7 before 12:30 p.m. to have the first training at 15:30. Tuesday morning another training and departing to Dortmund in the afternoon. 

Germany vs Italy is the first 2011 friendly game towards preparation for the 2012 EURO qualification.  Italy will play the first qualification game on March 24, 2011 at the Stozice Stadium in Luhina for the game Slovenia vs Italy at 20:45.  Last time Italy played in Dortmund was in  2005 for the World Cup Semifinal against Germany winning with goals by Fabio Grosso and Alessandro Del Piero.
