The tough situation is among the  relegation area. Cesena in the 18th position, Brescia in the 19th, and sorry to say if you are a Bari fan because Bari remain the last team of the Table with 14 points having a total negative goal difference of -19 the total opposite of the leaders AC Milan having a positive of +19 goals.   There are 6 teams up to this round having scored with 10 different players: Palermo, AS Bari, Udinese, Juventus, AC Milan and AS Roma.

Lazio - Fiorentina (before the match)
Olimpico di Roma stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Lazio 4th position, 37 points
                               Fiorentina  11th position, 25 points

Referee: De Marco  Assistants:  Viazzi and Liberti  Fourth Official:  Russo

A victory for Lazio can bring them back to the 3rd position if  Bologna defeat AS Roma who have  37 points.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  Lazio  with 2 suspended players Dias and Mauro Zarate.   Fiorentina with 1 suspended player Pasqual and  one player carrying one yellow card: Boruc.

Top scorer for Lazio is forward Sergio Floccari with 6 goals. Top scorer for Fiorentina is forward Alberto Gilardino with 7 goals.

Current stats in favor of Lazio.  In the last 6 HOME games Lazio with 4 win, 1 draw, and 1 lost.  In teh last 6 AWAY games Fiorentina with 3 draw, and 3 lost.

The joy from Lazio players defeating Fiorentina in the Serie A  Week 3 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on September  18, 2010. Fiorentina 1 - 2 Lazio .

Here is the probable formation from LAZIO (4-2-3-1): Fernando Muslera, Lichtsteiner, Diakite, Biava, Radu, Brocchi, Ledesma, Mauri, Hernanes, Sculli, Sergio Floccari

Here is the probable formation for FIORENTINA (4-2-3-1): Boruc, De Silvestri, Alessandro Gamberini, Kroldrup, Comotto, Donadel, D'Agostino, Riccardo Montolivo, Santana, Gilardino, Ljajic.

Anna Italia Prediction:  LAZIO

Catania - AC Milan (before the Match)
Massimino stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Catania  16th position, 22 points
AC Milan 1st position, 42 points

Referee: Tagliavento  Assistants: Romagnoli and Nicoletti  Fourth Official: Emidio Morganti

Fact here is that AC Milan either win, draw, or lose will continue as sole leader of the Serie A Table as there are 4 points difference with Napoli having the second place.  Catania with a defeat risk going down to the relegation area and will be devastating for new coach Diego Simeone.

The moment of redemption for  Simeone  making his debut last week with a defeat, and you bet it will be a remarkable victory if they manage to beat AC Milan.   Last time Catania defeated AC Milan  was 48 years ago on May 15, 1963 with a score of Catania 1 - 0 AC Milan goal by Petroni.

Advantage for Catania having this home and  more resting time than AC Milan who just played Coppa Italia Quarterfinal on Wednesday. Milan with two new players Urby Emanuelson and Mark Van Bommel already making their debut with the rossoneri in the Coppa Italia match against Sampdoria.

Photo Reuters
AC Milan forward Filippo Inzaghi celebrating his goal against Catania during 2010-2011Serie A Week 3 .

Catania have lost at the Massimino against Inter and Juventus.  Will AC Milan  defeat  them too?  Milan have won the  last 2 games at the Massimino.  Coach Simeone saying he would use a 4-3-3 formation against Milan.  Friday training will be closed doors.   In the Serie A Week 3  the match  ended with a draw on September 18, 2010 with goal by forward Filippo Inzaghi and Ciro Capuano AC Milan 1 - 1 Catania

Disadvantage  for Catania maybe not recovering Biagianti, Potenza, Izco and Llama. Disadvantage for Milan losing for injury defender Alessandro Nesta, midfielder Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso. Remedy for Milan  will target the two new signings Emanuelson and Van Bommel.

Current stats in the last 6 HOME games Catania  with 3 win 1 draw and 2 lost.   In the last 6 AWAY games AC Milan with 4 win and 2 draw.

Top scorer for Catania is forward Maxi Lopez with 5 goals.  Top scorer for AC Milan is forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic with 12 goals.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players for Catania and AC Milan.  Three players with one yellow card from Catania: Alvarez, Silvestre and Giuseppe Mascara.  One AC Milan player with 1 yellow card: Andrea Pirlo.

Here is the probable formation from CATANIA (4-1-4-1): Mariano Andujar, Alvarez, Silvestre, Spolli, Capuano, Carboni, Gomez, Ricchiuti, Mascara and Maxi Lopez.

Here is the probable formation for AC MILAN (4-3-1-2): Christian Abbiati; Ignazio Abate, Sokratis, Yepes, Luca Antonini, Van Bommel, Thiago Silva, Emanuelson, Robinho, Cassano, and Ibrahimovic.

Anna Italia Prediction:   AC MILAN

Brescia - Chievo (before the Match)
Rigamonti stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Brescia 19th position, 18 points
                               Chievo 14th position, 24 points

Referee: Brighi  Assistants:  Dobosz and Passeri  Fourth Official:  Massa

Is there is any logic in sports, winner here should be Bescia not only for being at home, but for the need they have to gain points at least from home games.   Losing will keep Brescia in the 19th position  despite the result from AS Bari who are in the 20th position with 14 points.

Current stats in favor of Brescia having in the last 6 HOME games 2 win, 2 draw, and 2 lost. In the last 6 AWAY games Chievo have 2 draw and 4 lost.

Point with Brescia and Chievo  are with te defense conceding  way too many goals.  Brescia scoring 17 goals while conceding 7 having a negative goal difference of -10.  Chievo scoring 20 goals while conceding 22 having a negative goal difference of -2.

Top scorer for Brescia is forward Andrea Caracciolo with 5 goals.  Top scorer for Chievo Verona is forward Sergio Pellissier with 7 goals.

Brescia having a testing friendly game with the Primavera on Thursday  ending  5-0 with goals  by Mareco, Filippini, Lanzafame and a brace  from Alessandro Diamanti.

Here is the probable formation from BRESCIA (4-3-3): Arcardi, Zebina, Bega, Martinez, Mareco, Kone, Cordova, Filippini, Diamanti, Carraciolo, and Lanzafame.

Here is the probable formation from CHIEVO VERONA: Sorrentino, Frey, Mandelli, Andreolli, Mantovani, Fernandes, Rigoni, Constant, Bogliacino, Sergio Pellissier, and Thereau.

Anna Italia Prediction  BRESCIA

Cagliari - AS Bari (before the Match)

Sant'Elia stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Cagliari 10th position, 26 points
                               Bari  20th position, 14 points

Referee: Orsato  Assistants: Di Fiore and Ciocchi  Fourth Official: Calvarese

It's been 41 years since Cagliari defeated AS Bari on April 12 1970 and winning their only Scudetto leading with great Italian legend Gigi Riva.  AS Bari  promoted from Serie B will look to  defeat Cagliari or grab  - at least - a draw at the Sant'Elia.  Pressure is more for Bari since they are in the  rock bottom of the Serie A with only 14 points compared to the leader AC Milan having 44 points a smacking difference of 30 points!!!!  It looks difficult for Bari who another defeat practically  signalling the packaging of the suitcases to get used to the idea of returning to Serie B.

Top scorer for Cagliari is forward Alessandro Matri with 9 goals. Top scorer for AS Bari is Barreto with 4 goals.

Here is the probable formation for CAGLIARI (4-3-1-2): Agazzi, Pisano, Canini, Astori, Agostini, Laner, Cossu, Biondini, Lazzari, Aquafresca, and Alessandro Matri.

Here is the probable formation from AS BARI (4-3-2-1): Gillet, A.Masiello, Belmonte, Glik, Rossi, Alvarez, Donati, Rivas, Kutuzov, Rudolf.

Anna Itlia Prediction:   CAGLIARI

Lecce - Cesena (before the Match)
Via Del Mare stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Lecce 17th position, 20 points
                                        Cesena 18th position, 19 points

Referee: Bergonzi  Assistants: Tonolini and Ayroldi  Fourth Official:  Ciampi

One point difference and the victory is a plus for both.  A defeat for Lecce means going down to the relegation area if Brescia defeat Chievo Verona.  Berscia are in the 19th position with 18 points.

Neither Lecce nor Cesena are doing well this season.  Lecce scoring 20 goals while conceding 38 goals having the cowabunga negative goal difference of -20. OUCH. Well, Cesena scoring 15 goals while conceding 27 having a negative goal difference of -12.

Here is the probable formation for LECCE (4-3-2-1): Rosati, Tomovic, Gustavo, Fabiano, Brivio, Munari, Giacomazzi, Vives, Olivera, Jeda, Di Michele.

Here is the probable formation from CESENA (4-3-2-1): Antonioli; Ceccarelli, Pellegrino, Von Bergen, Dellafiore, Caserta, Colucci, Parolo, Schelotto, Bogdani, Malonga.

Anna Italia Prediction:  CESENA

                               Palermo 7th position, 34 points

Referee: Rizzoli  Assistants: Grilli and Rosi  Fourth Official:  Gava

This is a match  not to miss.  The match to watch!   Not only  Inter and Palermo are 1 point difference, but their result indirectly helping or crumbling Roma, Juventus , and Udinese.  Inter and Palermo both qualified in penalty shoot outs to the Coppa Italia Semifinal.   Inter in agonizing penalty shoot outs  with Napoli being the decisive penalty that of defender Christian Chivu converting. Palermo winning against  Parma at the Barbera  Palermo 5 - 4  Parma

Added motivation for Palermo to win this game also for their coach.  Delio Rossi celebrated his 51st Birthday on Wednesday January 26 and you bet the best present for him will be to win this important away game.  Question is whether Inter will be easy to defeat or show their technical and tactical superiority.  Anything can happen....

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini continues protesting about wrongful referee decisions against his team.  Palermo have been denied penalties this season in the Serie A even if replays show there have been clear penalties. Curiosity will be to see how the referee will be in this game.  Will the pressure  at the Meazza favors Inter?   Will it be in favor of Palermo?  Let's hope it will be fair.

Referee for the game is Nicola Rizzoli who is directing a match from Inter for the first time since last season during the Coppa Italia final Inter 1 - 0 AS Roma.

Inter coach Leonardo clearly telling his team to archive the defeat against Udinese and jump back to the winning bandwagon.  On paper Inter are the favorites to win.  Palermo going to the  Meazza  with  an emergency in the attack as Abel Hernandez and Mauricio Pinilla still injured while forward Massimo Maccarone transferred to Sampdoria.  Responsibility is for forward Fabrizio Miccoli to pull the bandwagon.

Inter showing dominion even at the Renzo Barbera defeating Palermo  in the Serie A  Week 3  Palermo 1 - 3 Inter   on Sunday September 19, 2010.  Josip Ilicic scoring for Palermo  while Samuel Eto'o scoring the 2 goals for Inter.

Current stats totally in favor of Inter.  In the last 6 HOME games Inter with 6 win.  Palermo in the last 6 AWAY games with 2 win, 2 draw, and 2 lost.

US Palermo TicketsTop scorer for Inter is forward Samuel Eto'o with 12 goals.  Get this one... Eto'o scoring 4 goals against Palermo, so you can expect  Palermo defense to be alert and stopping Eto'o.. Will it be possible?

Top scorer for Palermo is midfielder Javier Pastore with 8 goals.

By the way, Pastore has been linked to a future transfer to Inter.

Here is the disciplinary situation.  Inter with 3 suspended players Dejan Stankovic, Christian Chivu, and Ivan Cordoba.  For Palermo 1 suspended player Carrozzieri.  Three players carrying one yellow card Ezeuiel Munoz, Dorin Goian and Federico Balzaretti

The absence of Stankovic is a big lost for Inter  giving that speed and control in the midfield.

Here is the probable formation from INTER (4-2-3-1): Castellazzi, Maicon, Lucio, Ranocchia, Javier Zanetti, Cambiasso, Motta, Mariga, Goran Pandev, Samuel Eto'o, Biabany.

Here is the probable formation for PALERMO (4-3-2-1): Salvatore Sirigu, Mattia Cassani, Ezequiel Munoz, Bovo, Federico Balzaretti, Migliaccio, Bacinovic, Antonio Nocerino, Josip Ilicic, Javier Pastore and Fabrizio Miccoli.

Anna Italia Prediction:  DRAW

Italy Serie A Standing: Genoa 15th position, 24 points

Referee: Pierpaoli  Assistants:  Carrer and Ciancaleoni  Fourth Official:  Gallione

Genoa coach Davide Ballardini struggling with the team to find their way for consistency.  Parma also in a difficult situation and eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Palermo.

Top scorer for Geno are Giandomenico Mesto, Destro, Rossi and Omar Milanetto with 2 goals each.  Top scorer for Parma is forward Hernan Crespo with 7 goals.

Genoa  and Parma need to start scoring and win games, period.  Up to Week 21 Genoa scoring only 15 goals while conceding 19 goals having a negative goal difference of -4.   Parma have scored 21 while conceding 25 having also a negative goal difference of -4.

Current stats in the last 6 HOME games Genoa with 2 win, 1 draw, and 3 lost.  In the last 6 AWAY games Parma have e 3 win, 2 draw, and 1 lost

Parma forward Sebastian Giovinco looking to celebrate a goal against Genoa....

Here is the disciplinary situation.  No suspended players for Genoa.  Three players carrying one yellow card: Destro, Dainelli and Criscito. Not an easy situation for Parma having 2 suspended players: Christian Zaccardo and Pacci.  Four players carrying one yellow card: Giovinco, Morrone, Angelo, and Candreva.

Here is the probable formation from GENOA (4-3-1-2): Eduardo, Rafinha, Kaladze, Dainelli, Domenico Criscito, Rossi, Milanetto, Kuckha, Jankovic, Floro Flores, Palacio

Here is the probable formation from PARMA (4-3-3): Antonio Mirante, Gobbi,  Paletta, Lucarelli, Modesto, Valiani, Morrone, Candreva, Sebastian Giovinco, Hernan Crespo, Palladino.

Roma with a victory can hope to reach the 2nd position only if Sampdoria defeat Napoli.  A defeat for Roma might mean going down to the 6th position if Juventus, Inter and Lazio win their respective games.  Bologna surviving internal chaos with the management and the resignation from President Zanetti.

"I am forced to resign as president and from the board of our glorious club," Bologna President Massimo Zanetti on Friday January 21 2011

Stats with Referee Bati directing AS Roma  are 8 games  having 5 victories.  Last game  directed by Banti  for Roma was on October 24, 2010 Parma 0-0 Roma, also last time Roma  did not score in a game.  Banti has directed 10 games from Bologna with  3 victories, 4 draw, and 3 lost.

Challenge will be for Bologna to win this home game.  Current stats .  In the last 6 HOME games Bologna with 4 win, 1 draw, and 1 lost.   In the last 6 AWAY games AS Roma with 2 win, 2 draw, and 2 lost.

Top scorer for Bologna is forward Marco Di Vaio with 13 goals. Top scorer for AS Roma is forward Marco Borriello wiht 9 goals.

Napoli and Sampdoria both coming from elimination of the Coppa Italia with the challenge to win this game.  Pressure is for Napoli to archive the defeat against Inter to keep the race for the Scudetto with AC Milan who are only  4 points ahead.

Latest news  with Sapdoria and a huge disadvanteage now is the transfer from forward Giampaolo Pazini to Inter on Thursday January 27. Reportedly on the deal is the transfer from Inter forward Jonathan Biabiny to Sampdoria.

Napoli forward Edison Cavani battling at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium during the 2010-2011 Serie A week 3 on September 19, 2010   Sampdoria 1 - 2 Napoli

There have been 62 encounters between Napoli - Sampdoria including in Coppa Italia, Serie A, Serie B. Stats in favor of Napoli.

27 victories Napoli
25 draw
10 victories Sampdoria
78 goals Napoli
54 goals Sampdoria

Last victory from Napoli on January 10, 2010 with Napoli 1 - 0 Sampdoria goal by German Denis. Last time Sampdoria defeated Napoli in San Paolo on April 19, 1998 Napoli 0 - 2 Sampdoria.

Top scorer for Napoli is forward Edinson Cavani with 15  goals.  Top scorer for Sampdoria is forward GIampaolo Pazzini.

Here is the probable formation from NAPOLI (3-4-2-1): De Sanctis, Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica, Maggio, Gargano, Pazienza, Zuniga, Hamsik, Lavezzi, Cavani .

Juventus - Udinese (before the Match)
Olimpico di Torino stadium
Italy Serie A Standing: Juventus 6th position, 35 points
                                  Udinese 8th position, 33 points

Referee: Giannoccaro   Assistants: Copelli and Marzaloni  Fourth Official: Romeo

What else can go wrong for Juventus this season? Not only they were eliminated from the Europa League, but also eliminated at home from the Coppa Italia too.  Roma defeating Juventus on Thursday January 27 at the Olimpico di Torino and qualifying to the Coppa Italia Semifinal.

Juventus are now playing only for the Serie A and still in emergency with injured players.  Udinese might be favorites to win this game considering the good rhythm and forward Antonio Di Natale scoring so far 15 goals being the top scorer of the league.  Top scorer for Juventus is forward Fabio Quagliarella with 9 goals. Disadvantage for Juventus not counting on Quagliarella as he is injured for the rest of the season.   Milos Krasic, Alessandro Del Piero and Vincenzo Iaquinta scoring 4 goals each..

Juventus signing Sampdoria forward Giampaolo Pazzini and let's see how he will connect with the team.  One thing is for sure, Juve want and need goals...  A ray of hope for Juventus is the return from goalkeeper Gigi Buffon and is now an uphill rocky road.  Losing this game might be a "good bye" for the scudetto.... a thing which will put a dark cloud on top of Casa Juventus. Juventus and Palermo have 35 points each and this is why if Palermo defeat Inter, something not really easy, and Juve lose here you could hear the worlds HELPPPPPPPPPP

Here is the disciplinary situation. No suspended players.  Two Juventus players carrying one yellow card Mohamed Sissoko and Simone Pepe.  Three Udinese players with one yellow card: Samir Handanovic, Gokhan Inler and Alexis Sanchez.

For Juventus is either wake up or smell the coffee... or something got to be done.... change of management????

Current stats.  In the last 6 HOME games Juventus with 3 win, 1 draw, and 2 lost. Oh my gosh.. Udinese not doing that well in AWAY games.. in the last 6 they have 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 lost.

Will Juventus return to smile?  Victories are wanted.....  Udinese not going for tourism at the Olimpico, but they will look to defeat Juve to bring home the 3 points and that my friends will be a loud and painful slap for the Old Lady...

Here is the probable formation from JUVENTUS (4-4-2):Buffon, Motta, Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Grygera, Milos Krasic, Alberto Aquilani, Sissoko, Marchision, Amauri, Del Piero.

Here is the probable formation for UDINESE (3-5-2): Samir Handanovic, Benatia, Zapata, Domizzi, Mauricio Isla, Pinzi, Gokhan Inler, Asamoah, Armero, Alexis Sanchez, and Antonio Di Natale.

Anna Italia Prediction: JUVENTUS
