"I'm thinking about who to call up for September's European qualifiers. It would be nice to start with some well-played games and improving gradually." Naturally, most questions dealing with the current condition of Italy national team living their worst period after the elimination of the 2010 World Cup South Africa in the first round.
I like the positive attitude from Prandelli by not extending the lamentation and just saying, "I want to propose an Italian national team with quality players because there are many. I don't want to think on the difficult moments, I don't deny there are some and there will be others. However, I want torestart with optimism, humility and the will to work in a positive way."
Turning the negative aspect from Lippi's experience in the World Cup, Prandelli also acknowledging the positive legacy from Lippi. "Weare talking about someone who won a World Cup [2006] and you can't just forget everything he achieved."
Unlike Lippi, Prandelli not closing the doors to Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano. Surely, Prandelli not confirming either any names yet. Here is the answer I like from Prandelli. "I will call up any player who deserves to be wearing the national shirt, which is neither mine nor the federation's, it belongs to everyone. I hope to be able to call up talented players on a meritocratic basis. The shirt they wear will make no difference."

When asked about whether Cassano and Inter forward Mario Balotelli can play together, Prandelli said that "talented players shouldn't have any problem playing together." Prandelli admitting that he sees Cassano more mature and this is a plus. However, on Balotelli he commented, "if I could give him a word of advice it would be to relax in his career as a footballer."
Now, we are seeing a transition on the "captaincy." Prandelli hope to make goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon captain for the EURO 2012. This is in reference to Buffon's previous statement that he considered one day becoming Italy's captain. I totally agree with this choice and let's hope Buffon can return in good shape after his back surgery. There is also the possibility to see AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi as a point of reference in case Buffon continue injured.

There is also the question on calling up "nationalized players" and the thought for many is on Brazil born Juventus forward Amauri who openly said he wants to play for Italy, not Brazil. Prandelli saying that if nationalized players play well "I don't see why I can't call them up."
One of the goals of Prandelli is to see Italy at least among the top 4 teams. "We as Italians are very proud." This referring to the episode of the "fracaso" of the Italian National team in the World Cup. I agree with Prandelli that what happened in this World Cup cannot be the future of the Italian National team, but a single negative episode. Though, the immediate goal is to see Italy qualifying to the EURO 2012.

Regarding technology "la moviola in campo," Prandelli is in favor. Hello, imagine after all the terrible mistakes from referees in this World Cup, granting clear offside goals, denying clear goals, and so on.... it's time to apply some technology or increase a referee. Don't you think guys?
