Paraguay for the first time in their history qualifying to a World Cup Quarterfinals!!!!  An agonizing match going to  extra time and after 120 minutes still ending 0 - 0.  The match decided in penalty shoot outs.  Japan failing to convert one penalty when Komano hit the cross bar.  Opening the  penalty shoot outs for  Paraguay was Atalanta midfielder Edgar Barreto converting his penalty with a low shot in the bottom corner. Delivering the winning goal for Paraguay is Cardozo sending Japan goalkeeper Kawashima in the other side  

It's first time the Paraguay and Japon are playing in a World Cup game.  In the FIFA Ranking Paraguay is in the 31st position while Japan is in the 45th position.   Paraguay  will play against  Spain who eliminated Portugal with a goal by David Villa.

Atalanta midfielder Edgar Barreto starting from the bench and substituting  Nestor Ortigoza in the 75th minute.

Regular time ending 0 -0 going to extra time 2 half time of 15 minutes each. 

For Japan, forward Keisuke Honda scoring 2 goals in the 2010 World Cup and will need 1 more goal to break the Japanese record for most goals scored in a singe World Cup edition. Junichi Inamoto scored 2 goals in the 2002 World Cup.
