News with the "secret tridente"   Italy head coach Marcello Lippi having a closed door morning training session. Yesterday, the  report was that Lippi dropped Gilardino and Marchisio from the lineup.  Today, it seems Lippi  might include Gilardino again.  Only first 15 minutes open to the press, then "secret" final training....  

I agree with Lippi and Cannavaro admitting that it is true that Italy have not played well yet, but now it's time to move forward and look for the result against Slovakia.  There is no other choice, we are in or out against Slovakia.

 Question is whether Lippi have the formation  with the right players?  Is he changing the defense where we are showing great weakness? What about the attack, clearly, Alberto Gilardino has not been able to deliver results, goals.  Lippi starts with Gilardino and Iaquinta, then, substituting by Di Natale and Pazzini.  Is he starting with Pazzini - Di Natale this time? 

There is only 1 Italy Serie A player in Slovakia:  Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik.

This is what is going on with the Italian National Team on Wednesday, June23, 2010.

-  Morning training session in Southdowns College.

-  Just before the training,,  Italy head coach Marcello Lippi showing great techniques with the ball  keeping the ball on the neck, good equilibrium and then to the feet... showing off .....

-  Warm up, tactical drills closed doors.

-  Lippi trying the tridente. Here is the probable formation for Slovakia - Italy based on the trainings:  Federico Marchetti, Gennaro Gattuso, Daniele De Rossi, Riccardo Montolivo; Vincenzo Iaquinta, Alberto Gilardino; and Di Natale.  Lippi  also trying Fabio Qugliarella as an altenative.

- 16:30:  Slovakia head coach  Vladimir Weiss press conference

- 18: 45  Lippi Press conferece at Ellis Park  with Captain Fabio Cannavaro.

-  LIPPI PRESS CONFERENCE

- Lippi promising to have an offensive formation against Slovakia.

-  Andrea Pirlo will be among the substitutes.

-  Lippi avoids talking about the declarations of the Lega Nord President Umberto Bossi that the Italian Football Federation "already bought the match against Slovakia."  

-  On the comments on Spain media about Cannavaro not feeling embarrassed for bad performance, Lippi replied  that Spain just won one game.  Cannavaro sitting next to Lippi with his eternal youthful smile (and I melt when I watched him smile).... just saying that the good things start now...
 
-  "We don't want  this match to be the our last game. We want to pass   the round.  We have not done well until now, we must do better and continue..  About the external critics?  The squad  does not have to answer, but to work.   We will try to do better in the attack unlike the previous games."


Bottom line, guys, hope is relying on Andrea Pirlo.    I won't take this measure along because a team needs all 11 players playing their respective roles to play a perfect symphony.
