Italy and New Zealand have same points and same goals in favor and against. Here is a win for anybody.  Losing the game means almost  being eliminated depending on the results of Slovakia vs Paraguay.  Italy cannot draw, but  defeat Paraguay, period.  

Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti replacing Gianluigi Buffon and it is his golden moment to pull Italy to victory by defending the goal.

I totally agree with Lippi  and his comment to the players that the ball must pass the goal, period.  And this is it... Referee  Carlos Batres whistles the beginning of the match..... let's go ITALIAAAAAAAAAAAAA



In the 2nd minute,  Simone Pepe connecting with Vincenzo Iaquinta with a long shot though... oh well... good effort but  goalkeeper Mark Paston alert....
 
Immediately reaction from New Zealand and Cannavaro running fast to clear, though goalkeeper Federico Marchetti anticipates well... forza, that's it Marchetti.. come on....

Geeee in the 4th minute Italy and AC Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta ends on the ground after crashing with 

Oh noooo way,   come on ....   In the 7th minute a long range free kick shot  by Simon Elliot and  Cannavaro totally failing to deflect the ball and remains on the ground while the ball bounces and New Zealand Shane Smeltz takes advantage to  shoot the goal  from close range  blasting Italy goalkeeper Federico  Marchetti.

Oh my gosh, I have a headache with this early goal...  oh let me be positive and  pray for Italy to react soon.. We need to score... come on Azzurri.... 

In the 11th minute, a chance for Italy...  oh gosh, guys, Iaquinta losing the chance to head when Rory Fallon  clears the danger...

  In the 14th minute,  Zambrotta  protesting  because  New Zealand player number 14  committed a foul on Cannavaro bringing him down   and now Referee Batres gives the yellow card to Rory Fallon.

Come on Azzurri...   oh gosh, in the 16th minute, Giorgio Chiellini  with a chance to score with a left footed shot from the left side.... a corner from the right after the   ball  bounces off Cannavaro though missing the target wide.....  Chiellini gets upset and laments....

In the 19th minute Cannavaro on the ground  after an elbow right in the chest bringing him down by Chris Killen....
 
What's going on guys....  in the 23rd minute, Giorgio Chiellini on the ground   when  Fallon   and Chiellini jumps to get a ball and Chiellini suffering the worst part with an elbow from Fallon... oh well, now he is up  and will continue....  


I cant' believe it... mammaaaa miaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa helllooo guys, what a luck   midfielder Riccardo Montolivo  with a right footed shot and it hit the post!!!!!!

Wow, there  it goes... in the 27th minute,  a penalty given to Italy for a foul  from Tommy Smith tugging the jersey of midfielder  Daniele De Rossi bringing him down inside the  penalty area....   Referee Batres grants the penalty and gives a yellow card to Smith.

   Taking the penalty shot is Vincenzo Iaquinta....     a right footed shot    and bam bam bam  gooooallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll  and  let's horn the Vuvuzelassssssssssssssssssssss now we are back to businesss  goalkeeper  Mark Paston went to the other side....   Iaquinta celebrates the  goal   and Daniele   De Rossi joining the celebration like playing a vuvuzela....

In the 45th minute  an assist by Simone Pepe to Daniele De Rossi with a right footed shot from outside the area  to the lower left corner and New Zealand goalkeeper saves.  so close to  score...

First half ends with 56% ball possession Italy and 44% ball possession New Zealand.

Second half starts with a double substitution from Italy.
Antonio Di Natale and Mauro Camoranesi replacing  Alberto Gilardino and  Simone Pepe.

Wonder why making 2 substitutions  too early???   We will have only one available... ok.. let's go guys... I am hoping for Pazziniiiii

In the 49th minute an assist by Riccardo Montolivo to Antonio Di Natale, and we see TOTO  with a right footed shot towards the lower left corner.....   and New Zealand goalkeeper saves...

In the 51st minute, the combo between  Iaquinta and Zambrotta  though there is  Smith deviating and it is corner for Italy....
 
In the 61st minute, an assist by Roman gladiator Daniele De Rossi to Iaquinta  a left footed shot .. geee missing the target to the right....


Oh gosh, yes, yes, guys in the 62nd minute, Lippi making the last substitution.
Claudio Marchisio  out, and the turn for Giampaolo Pazzini.

Montolivo cannot believe his luck after  New Zealand goalkeeper  saves  his right footed shot from about 25 yards on the lower left corner in the 70th minute.    This could have been a goal.......

In the  73rd minute, Italy increasing the pressing with Iaquinta sending a pass to Pazzini though Lochhead  clears but fast enough there is Toto Di Natale and smashh.. oh well.. good attempt....

15 more minutes and we need to  hurry ...  the Azzurri  pressing, running,  but missing the target...  or  just being   denied by New Zealand defense....

Oh my my my myyyyyyyyyyyyy gosh... so close New Zealand to score and  I almost faint.......  in the 84th minute  an assist by Jeremy Christie Wood  with a diagonal left shot and missing not by much in the far post forcing Italy goalkeeper Federico Marchetti to super stretch.....
 
In the 87th minute Referee Batres gives a yellow card to Nelsen who just now was  on the ground having cramps???

In the 88th minute Camoranesi  a  long  right footed powerful shot  forcing   goalkeeper  to save with both hands deviating for corner.....

Italy keeps pressing, and you guys, this is the way Italy should play since the first half..... press since the beginning...

Four minutes added time....

In the 91st minute Zambrotta with a right footed shot after an assist  by  De Rossi and blocked...

In the 93rd minute New Zealand making a substitution

Oh well, guys...  too late.. but Referee Batres whistles the end of the match. ....   I must say ... I expected more from the Azzurri and  we continue having "the diet goal"... something got to   change.... Italy now  remaining with 2 points while Paraguay leads the group F with 4 points.   The whole thing is to score, scocre, score, score, and not concede goals..   can we put this in action??????
