What's going with the Italian National team on Friday, June 18, 2010 - Venerdì 18 Giugno 2010

 11.00 Italy National team training (Open to the Press only first15minutes) -

Press conference in Casa Azzurri with footballers - A seguire Incontro con la stampa a Casa Azzurri( Calciatori)

The last two trainings are closed doors.  Italy head coach Marcello Lippi not willing to give anything away to the opponents and checking fitness conditions on key players. 

Latest adjustments on the schedule of the Azzurri  departing to Nelspruit for the match against New Zealand until tomorrow afternoon.  Even if Andrea Pirlo is not listed to play against New Zealand, he will travel with the team.  However, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will remain in Centurion continuing with his recovery program. Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti replacing Buffon.

It seems there might be a switch from a 4-3-3 formation to a 4-4-2 formation against New Zealand.  Simone Pepe and Antonio Di Natale, De Rossi and Riccardo Montolivo with Gilardino and Iaquinta in front.  During the practice Marchisio got his chance too, the duel is between Camoranesi and Marchisio.  Which one will Lippi use. 

Italy and AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo continuing with his recovery and might be ready for the match against Slovakia.

Lippi testing Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale and Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta.  Looks like Di Natale might be in the starting line up.   Lippi has been checking closely yesterday and today all forwards.  Hello, and he needs to do so because we need goals guys. 

Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti and Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis training under scrutiny and there is no replacement allowed from FIFA Regulation to call another goalkeeper because the injury from first goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is not "a serious injury."   Lippi and teammates giving full support to Marchetti who has been chosen to replace Buffon.

-  17:30 Charter flight landing  fromJohannesburg to Nelspruit.  An hour after the arrivaland the transfer to the 'Mbombela Stadium' just for a visit to the pitchwhich will host the match against the New Zealanders.

-  19.45 there  will be the press conference of coach Marcello Lippi.

-  20:10 Departure  of the Italian National team from Nelspruit going back to Johannesburg.    Then transfer to Leriba Lodge in Centurion.

-  11.30, Italy National team training session open to the press and after that the press conference of   Italy coach Marcello Lippi.
