Common topic is about Buffon and who will  be the goalkeeper for the next 2 games.  Based on trainings and Lippi's declarations the chosen one seems to be Cagliari goalkeeper  Federico Marchetti. Yet, I won't rule out Napoli goalkeeper  Morgan De Sanctis.   Thing is that  trainings this week are crucial for both goalkeepers and the defense.  Cannavaro needs to be sharper.

Here is the thing. After the draw yesterday new New Zealand, all 4 teams start  from the same  start.  Italy  are training hard  to correct errors seen against Paraguay.   Simply put, a victory is a MUST.   Here are the latest World Cup groups F standing and only 2 more games to qualify  or not..

-  One of the pro Buffon staying with the Azzurri is his teammate Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.  During the press conference Chilellini said, "Let's wait and see before  commenting on his absence.Let's see how many games Buffon  will need to miss."   Chiellini highlighting the leadership of buffon inside and outside the pitch.  "We will miss him, for sure, both as a leader and a player, but it depends how long he'll be out."

Sure, I agree with  Chiellini that the position of the goalkeeper is key and as important as the center forward. You bet it is because as Chiellini mentioned, "a save is as critical as a goal. The  goalkeeper is part of a team's backbone."
 

Regarding  Tactics, formations...   Chiellini is ready to be available in whatever position Lippi needs him.  Lippi already trying him at left fullback.  Though, Chiellini says, "For now I'm a central defender."

"We have tried three formations: the 4-2-3-1, the 4-3-3 and the 4-4-2. I  think we can play the next matches with two forwards, or maybe even four if  necessary, as long as everyone is prepared to work hard."

I see Chiellini's point on using the 4-4-2 formation. Question is who will be the two forwrds.  Is Lippi insisting with Alberto Gilardino?  Is not the time to give a chance to Giampaolo Pazzini?

Here is the  man of the destiny... yep.  Italy and Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti  during the Italy Training.   Marchetti knowing that  it will  be up to him to defend  Italy against new Zealand and Slovakia.  pressure will be high and here is when  a firm attitude is needed.
