It is the first match of Italy and Paraguay in the 2010 World Cup game, a win or win.  Both teams facing key injured players. 

-  Italy with last minutes injury from midfielder Mauro Camoranesi and midfielder Andrea Pirlo both making the trip but not likely to start in this game.  A replacement could be Cagliari midfielder Andrea Cossu who might be called up until 24 hours prior this game according to FIFA rules.  Goalkeeper Buffon had a minor back pain and still needing to be 100%  fit as an iron wall. In case Buffon cannot play, Cagliari goalkeeper  Federico Marchetti might take his place.  Lippi tried Marchetti in the friendly game against Switzerland on June 3, 2010.

-  Paraguay starts missing their main forward Salvador Cabanas, from Mexican Club America, who was shot in the head in  a Mexico City bar and under recovery not even called up.  Talking his place, supposedly, is Argentinian born forward Luas Barrios playing for German team Borussian Dortmund.  Barrios, though some  protests the fact that he got his Paraguay passport  just few weeks ago, is proving to be a decisive player.  Yep. Barrios scoring  in two friendlies against Ireland and Ivory Coast.   Barrios could get his Paraguay passport because his mother was born in Paraguay.

Here is the thing guys.  Let's be honest, Italy is currently defending World Champion, however, has failed to show good results or super convincing victory, whether we like it or not.  OUCH.. and boy how it hurts to admit it.  Question is whether this Italy will awake  in this game?  Oh you bet I wish so.    Italy had 2 friendly games just before this match losing "horrendously" against Mexico who for the first time in 60 years beat Italy.  Second game a more or less awakening against Switzerland with many of the arguably "B" list.

My personal bet as to finally shake up and get rid of the dust is to have the roaring lion AC Mian midfielder Gennaro Gattuso to inject his fury, drive to his teammates and push everybody the bandwagon until the end.

Challenge is for the Italian forwards Fabio Quagliarella, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Giampaolo Pazzini, and Alberto Gilardino to deliver those "awaited goals"  Hello, Paraguay is not an easy  team. Are you kidding me.... hello, hello, just imagine that during the World Cup qualification Paraguay defeated the historical giants Brazil and Argentina.Yep!!! Ok, just say it... oh my gosh.
