 Hello guys, Countdown for the end of the  2009 - 2010 Italian Serie A Season...  2  more games after this one.   It's a give and take on the  race for the Scudetto with Roma losing the leadership and Inter taking back the first position this week with 73 points while AS Roma remain with 71 points. 

AC Milan now out of the race for the Scudetto with 64 points.  Inter on Cloud 9 after eliminating on aggregate results Barcelona to be in the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich on May 22.


Also in the race for the 4th position for a spot in the Champions League Palermo losing it while Sampdoria take it back.

Fighting for salvation are Udinese, Lazio, Atalanta, Siena, and Livorno.Oops.. Livorno already with the suitcases ready for relegation to the Serie B. Lazio playing with Inter on Sunday and a defeat might put them in the relegation area..... ouch.

Hey, everything is happiness for Inter and you bet they will still be celebrating their qualification to the Champions League final , and so do I... 

I was so happy following the match minute by minute, second by second until Referee Bleeckere  whistled the end of the game.  Well, today is back to reality, back to the Serie A and Inter playing in 3 fronts: Champions League, Coppa Italia  next week on May 5 against AS Roma, and the Serie A.  So, you can  expect some of the players being tired or with minor injuries.  Question  is whether Jose Mourinho will make turnovers for these 3 games or keep using the same first team?

Here is the thing. Inter are the leaders but only 2 points lead ahead AS Roma. If losing, and Roma defeating Parma, the difference will be 1 point... with 2 more games, hey, hey, hey, Inter might end up with "zeru tituli"... so you bet serious thoughts are undergoing with Mourinho and Moratti on not  risking losing all 3 competitons...

Lazio, technically, not saved yet.  Bad news is that Lazio coach Edy Reja is suspended for this game.   Rumors about Lazio intentionally losing the game against Inter for not helping their city rival AS Roma to take back the leadership are just  rumors.  Sure, for many Lazio fans will be great. 

There is a problem if Lazio "purposely" lose the match against Interbecause there are only 2 more games after and Lazio still not saved fromrelegation.

Simply put, Lazio will take a big risk  whether losing voluntarily ornot against Inter if Atalanta defeat Bologna.  What does Atalanta got todo? Big time...

Lazio have 40 points six points away from the relegation area seeingAtalanta in the 18th position with 34 points.  If Atalanta defeatBologna and win their remaining  2 games. Lazio might be relegated ifwinning the last 2 games. Yep. how is that?  Let me tell you... if Lazioand Atalanta  end  the season with the same points, guess who go to theSerie B?   ta.ta.. ta. ta.... LAZIO!  Hum? what? Really?  Yep.

Decision will be made based on their direct counters where  Atalanta onaggregate result win.
 Lazio 1  - 0 Atalanta.
 Atalanta 3 - 0 Lazio.



Now you see why Lazio cannot lose against Inter "on purpose."  ....First, Lazio must think  on their own salvation and then the rest.....  your say...

Inter  might give resting time to some players, at least, midfielder Wesley Sneijder must fully recover from a contracture on his left leg to be ready for the super mega clash final of the Champions League...

 Parma already saves  have nothing to lose, but a home victory could be a party for the fans.  However, Roma have no option than winning to get the 3 points and hope for Lazio to draw or defeat Inter to take back the leadership of the Serie A.   Only 2 points separate Inter and Roma, who by the way, will play also on May 5 the final of the Coppa Italia.

Roma still believe  in winning the scudetto as declared by Luca Toni, and Francesco Totti. 

It won't be an easy match because Parma coach Francesco Guidolin's objective is to reach 50 points.   Parma will try to win this home game because next week they play in the Olimpico against Juventus.  Roma will  host  in the Olimpico next week Cagliari.

If there is a hammer around you bet AC Milan must be hitting their backs for wasting so many chances to take the first position and instead losing the key games when they could be at the top.  Hum? Milan cannot lament because they were owners of their own future and now the future "is the 3rd position"   Apparently it is secured, but with Milan this season we never know whether  they will be consistent or not. 

Here is the thing.  If Milan lose this game and Sampdoria defeat Livorno. Bad news for Milan because there might be even risking losing the 3rd position with 1 point difference. Milan must win in San Siro considering the last game of the season will be a bloody battle with Juventus.

The worst thing that can happen to Milan is to lose by a goal from the ex Milan player Alberto Gilardino.  Fiorentina is already out  of the Champions League and Europa League for next season. They won't have much pressure as compared to Milan.

Good news for Milan is the return from suspension from forward Marco Borriello and Daniele Bonera.

By the way, Napoli midfielder  Christian Maggio is getting married on May 22, a week after the end of the Serie A Season.

Livorno will play only for the honor, the pride.... by now Livorno is in the relegation area. Livorno President Aldo Spinelli selling the club and things not easy at all.  Livorno coach Gennaro Ruotolo have not  been able to save  the team after the sacking from coach Serse Cosmi.  Sampdoria will have the obligation to win the home game to keep the 4th position for a spot in the Champions League.  Losing will be devastating because  next week Sampdoria will travel to Sicily  to play with  Palermo in the Renzo Barbera where both  will join a bloody  battle competing for the "4th position."
