"we did not find a shot on goal, we were not brilliant, we lacked the final touch," AC Milan coach Leonardo on losing the Milan Derby
The sad face from the Milan Derby is none other than AC Milan coach Leonardo. Yep! Leonardo admitting the plain and obvious truth that AC Milan played bad, period. Milan lost the Milan Derby despite having an extra man since the 28th minute after Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder sent off for protest by Referee Gianluca Rocchi.
Here are the declarations from AC Milan coach Leonardo after losing the Milan Derby on Sunday, January 24, 2010:
"Inter started out well, in the first phases of the game we were in difficulty in trying to come out from their very high pressing and we moved back too much. We allowed counter attacks in critical situations, helping their characteristics, but we knew about Inter's strength. "
"Following the expulsion of Sneijder, we tried to take possession of the
ball, but we did not find a shot on goal, we were not brilliant, we
lacked the final touch," said Leonardo

Leo continues saying that "It must also be said that today Inter found great performances from individual levels. I think about Julio Cesar, Milito, the midfield who covered very well, to Lucio and Samuel who in defence had great performances. We were missing Nesta, Pato, Seedorf, even we had our problems, but we could have played a different game. In any case we must not forget what we are doing, we are still in the run for everything, the season is open, today we lost the derby, important but not decisive game. When you lose it's never because of one reason, many components tonight have determined this result.
Regarding the absence of defender Alessandro Nesta, Leo replied, "Nesta? We'll see, he is doing everything he can to recover. I'm not worried about the ciriticism which could arrive due to determined choices. An extra forward could have played, but the second goal complicated the balances of the game and we needed to evaluate many choices and measure the changes. In ten men, the situation does not change a lot, they were very good to defend themselves and also good to counter attack and hit us. We lacked the manouevre and the possibility of dribbling past the man. Maicon's penalty? I wouldn't stop on the episodes. There is a lot of disappointment for the defeat, but nothing can take away all the good things we have done so far."
