Week 18 - 2009 - 2010 ITALY SERIE A PREVIEW Eighteenth Round on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 "Post your predictions now"

By Anna Italia

Happy New Year 2010. Hope you all had a good time. Now, that the 2009 is over, let's get ready for our Italian Serie A Week 18 predictions. Yep!  hip hip hurrah!

Let see how our 20 Italian Serie A Clubs start the New Year.   Here is  my
PREVIEW of the Italian Serie A Week 18- Eighteenth Round scheduled Wednesday, January 6, 2010.  The race for the Scudetto is alive.  Inter continue to be the sole leader with 39 points followed by AC Milan with 31 points, and Juventus with 30 points.

Pressure mostly for Juventus and Lazio constantly because fans keep protesting for their bad performance. I think Lazio have more to lose than Juventus still in the 3rd position.  Good news for Roma who has been making a super comeback reaching the 4th position and now with the new forward "LUCA TONI" expecting to battle along Francesco Totti, Mirko Vucinic and Daniele De Rossi.

In the relegation area Catania with 13 points, Catania 12 points and AC Siena 12 points.

Chievo Verona - FC Inter (before the match)
Bentegodi Stadium
Serie A Standing: Chievo Verona 12th position 24  points
FC Inter 1st position, 39 points

Inter energized and ready to keep the leadership.  Although Inter will be without forward Samuel Eto'o because he will be with his national team playing in Africa, the squad is strong with the leadership of Argentinian forward Diego Milito.

Inter followed their winter training in Arabia where they played a friendly match ....

Guys, here is the chance for young forward Mario Balotelli to show Mourinho he can count on him. Most likely Mourinho will try a 4-3-1-2 formation with Balotelli and Milito leading the attack and Sneijder as trequartista.
It won't be an easy game considering Chievo playing at home and goalkeeper Sorrentino lately having a good performance.

It reminds me of the "Ibrahimovic dipendente"... Inter players should play like knowing and believing that they can win even without Samuel Eto'o. To replace Eto'o during this month is ex Lazio forward Goran Pandev who might make his debut on Wednesday. Pandev signed a contract with Inter until June 30, 2014. Wow, it will be interesting to see how Mourinho readjust his attack deciding on the trio Pandev, Balotelli, Milito.

Pandev already promising to train hard and start scoring immediately. Hello, after all these months without playing you bet Pandev must be desperate to start showing his worth.

Chievo have no suspended players. Three players with one booking: Pinzi, Morero, and Sardo.

Ouch, here is a possible problem for Inter... Two suspended players including midfielder Dejan Stankovic who seems to be the driving force and defender Thiago Motta. One player with one booking is Mario Balotelli. Wow, Balotelli with his temper should avoid getting an unnecessary yellow card. Imagine what will happen if Balotelli gets suspended??? Ouch... no Eto'o, and without Balotelli the pressure would be for Milito. So, you bet Mourinho will give a nice calming lecture to Balotelli and a chamomile tea.

Here is the probable formation for CHIEVO VERONA: Sorrentino, Sardo, Morero, Mario Yepes, Mantovani, Luciano, Rigoni, Marcolini, Pinzi, Pellissier, and Abbruscato.

Here is the probable formation for FC INTER: Julio Cesar, Maicon, Ivan Cordoba, Lucio, Christian Chivu, Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Sulley Muntari, Wesley Sneijder, Mario Balotelli and Diego Milito.

The numbers are in favor of Chievo Verona playing at home.

Here are the last 3 HOME games from Chievo Verona: 3 wins

13/12/2009 Serie A Chievo vs. Fiorentina W - 2:1
29/11/2009 Serie A Chievo vs. Palermo W - 1:0

San Siro Stadium
Serie A Standing: AC Milan 2nd position, 31  points
                         Genoa 11th position, 24 points

The mood for AC Milan is all about winning and the BECKHANMANIA back in town. Yep!  David Beckham already training with AC Milan and his  objective is to play well to help Milan and wait for  a call up from England Head Coach Fabio Capello.

Milan who are currently 8 points away from Inter, with one pending game, believe they can still win the Scudetto and also the Champions League.

Genoa having a disappointed first half of the season dropping all the way to the 11th position. Challenge is now to win in San Siro causing a major upset for the rossoneri.  Problems between coach Gian Piero Gasperini and goalkeeper Marco Amelia who has not played lately and proving a major flop after he transferred from Palermo. Gasperini preferring goalkeeper Scarpi.

Here is the probable formation for AC MILAN: Dida, Gianluca Zambrotta, Alessandro Nesta, Thiago Silva, Luca Antonini, Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Ambrosini, Clarence Seedorf, Pato, Marco Borriello, and Ronaldinho.

An opportunity for Hernan Crespo to  become a protagonist and Rodrigo Palacio if reaching to deliver winning goals against the furor of the "Beckhanmania"

Genoa with their new signing ex Inter forward David Suazo who already scored with Genoa in the friendly game in Alexandria. However, it was not enough because Genoa losing the game for 2-1.

Just 2 points separate Parma and Juventus.  Juventus under reformation with the incorporation of Bettega and the continuing rumors about the possible sacking of coach Ciro Ferrara. Wow, Parma is rocking big time and Juventus not finding their way for a consistent performance but having lost precious points in the last 3 games.  Here is the thing guys.
