Italy Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and AC Milan Owner attacked by Massimo Tartaglia on Sunday, December 13, 2009
Italian Soccer Serie A expresses solidarity for Italy Prime Minister and AC Milan Owner Silvio Berlusconi who was attacked by Massimo Tartaglia on Sunday, December 13, 2009 in Milan. It's a sad episode seeing this type of attacks leaving Berlusconi with a bloody face when Battaglia hit him with a souvenir from the replica of Milan's Duomo leaving him a broken nose, 2 broken teeth and split lip as reported by doctors at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. Berlusconi's doctor Alberto Zangrillo, said on state television Berlusconi would not return to work for 10 days.
Berlusconi making an effort to show the people he was fine as an instinct stood up on the edge of his car showing the crowd that he was ok not dead. The attack happened after a political rally while Berlusconi was greeting and signing autographs in Milan. Massimo Tartaglia was kept in Milan's San Vittore prison. According to Italian law, police can hold him for up to 48 hours without a judge's order. Apart from ideological beliefs whether one agrees or not with Berlusconi's philosophy, it is good to see the Italian football community showing solidarity for Berlusconi against this brutal attack.
