Hello, hello, what a relief waking up this morning heading to Starbucks for my coffee knowing that ITALY already qualified for the 2010 World Cup South Africa after the "blessed" goal from Fiorentina forward Alberto Gilardino against the Republic of Ireland !  hip hip hurrah Let's check what is going with the Italian national team today Sunday, October 11, 2009... first news is that Italy Head Coach announced he will change the squad against Cyprus!  Yep, so, those not playing much might have their magic moment on Wednesday.....  I have only one thing to ask Lippi... "for heaven's sake let's see a convincing victory with a brilliant football from now on."

- Italy National team returned to Italy to prepare the last 2010 World Cup qualifier match ITALY - CYPRUS.

- Italy Marcello Lippi said "I want to see those players who have not played much. Yet, I will use a squad to get a victory.

                    
- Lippi says "it is a great satisfaction to have qualified with a match in advance. Sure, we risked a lot, but it is normal having an opponent like Ireland who are physically strong.  Our qualification was not granted, imagine that other teams like France had to struggle and even other teams having great players not even reaching the objective.  It would have been unfair if we had lost the game against Ireland.  The squad did a good job even finiding the goal in the last minute. We scored 2 gols and ruled out one which I really don't know why"

-  Lippi continues saying,"I have seen many positive things in the last 2 games. The important thing is that whoever plays they do it with enthusiasm, and this is important to reconstruct the squad.  I don't talk about strength but about a group.  We are working as a group, there is enthusiasm, personality and we will find our best game soon. Usually, not easy to find the best games, shape in qualifying games, but we will do it.  I am satisfied to see our youngster doing well with the Azzurri like Marchisio and Criscito. Let's say that the group for South Africa is already formed."
 
 -  If we want to win the 2010 World Cup, we have to change rhythm. We want to defend the title. Although to win again the World Cup it is not enough to defeat the teams we have played against until now. 

-  Bad news guys with Italy goalkeeper Gigi Buffon having problems with the menisco and Lippi advising him to have surgery now before the big games arrive to have enough recovery time.

- Accoring to the doctor of the National team, Professor  Castellacci, "Gigi supported everything up to now because he is a superman.  Besides, considering his role compared to the others, he has less movement but now he feels some problems with the menisco. In case of surgery Buffon will stop for 30 or 40 days.  Right now, Buffon will remain in Coverciano until Wednesday. Surgery will be decided once he return to Juventus.

Anyway, guys, Buffon said he prefers to rest on Wednesday and be ready for the match on Saturday valid for the Italian Serie A Week 8 game Juventus - Fiorentina. Well, as Lippi said, Italy already qualified and he will give playing time to the ones not playing much, so it will be fair to see De Sanctis or Marchetti against Cyprus. Don't you think guys?
