The torment about Italy and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro testing positive for cortisone after the game Roma - Juventus on August 30, 2009, seems a "solved issue."

According to the Italian national team’s medical staff, Enrico Castellacci statement on Juventus official website, Cannavaro told him that he had taken cortisone-based medicine to treat an insect sting on August 29, 2009 while training in Vinovo. Cannavaro then explained that without that medicine he would have had suffered ananaphylactic shock.

Here is the thing guys. Had this been a real doping -- intentional, Cannavaro risk not playing in the 2010 World Cup qualifying match ITALY - CYPRUS on Wednesday, October 14.  However, it seems that everything is under control and it is a case of medicine being applied to avoid the anaphylactic effect. Good thing for Cannavaro the loyal support from Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi saying that he is waiting for him on Sunday, October 12 to rejoin the team and prepare the match against Cyprus.

Anyway, Castellaci also said that he asked Juventus forall the medical documentation and all the necessary medicinal documentsfor the medicine taken by Cannavaro. On Juventus' part, the medical division ofstated that it "acted within the sanitary prescriptions and the deontological rules " last August because the clinical condition following worsened.

Cannavaro is not playing on Saturday, October 10 in the match of the Republic of Ireland - Italy because he is suspended for one match, nothing to do with this doping issue.
