Good morning, buon giorno... here is what is going on with the Italian National team today Tuesday, September 8, 2009.

- Around 2,000 fans observed the last training of the Italian National team in the Olimpico Stadium from Turin. Training was open doors. The fans giving a standing ovation to the squad when making their entrance to the pitch and also applauding Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi. Excellent reaction by Lippi taking a moment to greet the fans while their applause increased.
- Lippi declaring that there are "no magic but consistency." I totally agree with Lippi that the match against Bulgaria is the most important right now because it might confirm the qualification of the Italian National team to the 2010 World Cup. "This squad has not only athletic quality, but also technical. We have also superior quality. We don't feel the problem of goal, tomorrow even one of their defenders could score or even Buffon. The important thing is to win. This time I have to think until the last moment on the attack."
- A victory can confirm Italy the Group Leader and with a lead of 4 points over the Republic of Ireland making it easier to face them on October 10, 2009.
It means that Lippi is clear on who his defense and midfield, but only doubts on the attack. Based on his declarations, it seems this time Lippi will not start with forward Giuseppe Rossi who did not have a good match against Georgia. However, it appears that Lippi will start with Vincenzo Iaquinta and bringing this time Fiorentina forward Alberto Gilardino.
Honestly, I hope Lippi starts with Napoli forward Fabio Quagliarella after his good performance against Georgia. Let's break this "goal diet," and use forwards with clearer chance to score. Iaquinta and Giuseppe Rossi could not create the goals against Georgia... Quagliarella when entering as a substitute in the 59th minute for Rossi showed a big difference... so, why not give him a chance in the starting lineup?

ITALY: Buffon, Gianluca Zambrotta, Fabio Cannavaro, Giorgio Chiellini, Fabio Grosso, Daniele De Rossi, Mauro Camoranesi, and Claudio Marchisio, Pepe, Vincenzo Iaquinta, and Alberto Gilardino.
Lippi replaces Andrea Pirlo and gives chance to Pepe.
- The World Cup trophy will arrive in Turin for exhibition tomorrow Wednesday. It will be open to the public at the Palazzo Civico from 9 a.m. to 12.
