- Talking in the press conference is Italy Captain and defender Fabio Cannavaro.  Just by watching him in RAI SPORT it gives me goosebumps and I am already waving my Italian flag supporting the Azzurri, and you?

Good news is to see an optimistic and fit Fabio Cannavaro after wearing the Italian jersey for 12 years, winning a FIFA World Cup, a Golden Ball, Scudetti  and many awards including having the 127th appearance record with the Italian National team.   Guys, Cannavaro will turn 36 years old on September 13 and one of his goals is to celebrate with the success of the Azzurri.   And I say AMEN !!!!!

On the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers games againstg Georgia and Bulgaria

Hello, hello, it is obvious that the main concern for Cannavaro -- and for all Italian players -- is to win the next 2 games against Georgia and Bulgaria to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

Cannavaro said, “It's about two important matches, we have the possibility  to advance.  Georgia is not  having a positive moment rith now, while we have to find the right motivations.  The actual squad is different to that of the 2006 World Cup in Berlin, we are looking to be again a team. We had some difficulty in South Africa  - physical and mentally -- and we have to work on it. "

Guys, I agree with Cannavaro because the current team still has to find their own identity, work in harmony and precise with passes.  Georgia right now have only 3 points.  The most important thing is that the entire team should believe in playing as Champions and not keep struggling at this point. Don't you think guys?  That should be enough motivation for the Azzurri.... be champions again.

ITALY IDENTITY - FORMATION

According to Cannavaro, Italy is looking  for a new identity:  

“Compared to 4 years ago, we are a bit behind,  we cannot deny it.  Lippi has now chosen a 4-4-2 but it will always depend on the different games.  It means that Lippi is not  rigid to a specific module / formation.  Usually, Lippi starts one way and ends in a different way.  For example, maybe starting with the 4-4-2 and ending with a differnt formation.  Our team is able to adapt  tactically depending on our opponents and even change our own identity. 
 
ON FORWARD GIUSEPPE ROSSI

Cannavaro commenting on forward  Giuseppe Rossi: “Many have recognized that Rossi is a "fenomeno." He is aware of the goal, dribbling, and has technical capacity. In Spain, with Vallareal, he is already an idol. I think it is his moment.  He has tthe right age, from here to the World Cup he should  give us the quality touch." 

ON FC JUVENTUS MIDFIELDER DIEGO

"Diego is an atypical playmaker; physically strong and difficult tomove. It can be seen that he played in Germany. He is very cleverbetween the lines. With him teams will have to return to man-to-manmarking. I hope that in a year’s time he will win the Golden Ball".Saying this is one who knows what it means to win the Golden Ball:Fabio Cannavaro won the award by France Football in 2006. 

On FC INTER COACH JOSE MOURINHO

"I like Mourinho because he isintelligent. In times of difficulty for the team he is clever enough toshift attention onto himself. What I don’t like about him is that whenhe speaks it seems like his words are law. This is perhaps because whenthere is little to write the media finds it comfortable to give itimportance".

Regarding Mourinho's relation to the match between Milan and Juventus being on the last match day, Cannavaro answered: «I can see he is used to the Italian mentality. I hope that the discourse regarding the championship will beover before the last match day, obviously in our favour, so as not tohave any Italian suspicion. However, even I think that Inter is verystrong. They have a complete squad and we will find it very hard."

ON HIS FUTURE:

Lastly, Cannavaro talk about his future. "I think it will be difficult to become the same Cannavaro I was in 2006. It was a different level, "stratosferico."  Yet, I am the same Cannavarro. I also did good things last season. I have not had physical problems but just to condition.  Some of the things I did were not evident here because I was playing in Spain and perhaps it was more interesting to highlight the negative things.  What I can say is that after 2 years, I have done a good preparation and you can tell that I am fine."
