PRETORIA, Tuesday, June 17, 2009 - Guys, Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi is preparing a surprise with maybe a more "defensive" style formation for the classical Catenaccio.

- Training today, Cannavaro completed the entire training.  Lippi observed the supposedly "lineup" against Egypt:

Defenders: Fabio Cannavaro, Giorgio Chiellini, Fabio Grosso and here is the surprise because young Davide Santon is included too! 

Italy must win this match to keep the leadership of Group B and qualify for the Semifinal, period.

CHANGES:   Lippi says there will be changes comparing the formation that played against the United States (USA) but he is not saying how many. "If Rossi will play? We will see it tomorrow. I am not considering right now the mach against Brazil because if we lose tomorrow, then, the match against Brazil will be dramatic.  I will use the formation more adapted to Egypt," says Lippi. 

Wow, wow, wow... guys, here are the two forwards awaiting to be in the "starting lineup" Giuseppe Rossi and Luca Toni, who will you pick and why?  Well, if we think in aerial advantages, it will Luca, but on speed and consistency it is Rossi.  Your take?

I am  happy to know Lippi is focusing on the match exclusively against EGYPT not mixing on "what might happen with Brazil."  Guys, I agree that Italy must win against Egypt to reach 6 points and play against Brazil without the pressure of not qualifying for the Semifinal. Don't you think?  Italy right now is on top with 2 goals difference in favor compared to Brazil having one goal difference in favor.

Here is the thing guys, based on what we saw in the match Brazil - Egypt, it won't be an easy match.  Egypt is proving to be a serious contender and I rather see Italy winning this match than having their "heads" in the match against Brazil.  Don't you think?

When ask about whether FC Inter defender Davide Santon was ready for an official competition, Lippi says, "Surely, he is ready."

On the Defense: "Less solid? It changes often. It changes often and rarely we have had the lineup defense.  The comeback from Cannaavaro is importat in many ways."

On Brazil - "It is very European.  Brazil has physically paid against Egypt for having arrived late in South Africa."

Guys, on a joking mood, Cannavaro making reference that "some of the old player (vecchietto) as called by the media, play in Bayern Munich, Lyon, AC Milan, FC Juvents, in other words in big teams. From here to the World Cup, we could prepare well and arrive in the best conditions thanks to some of the younger players. It's normal when there is a change of generation. It happened  when Maldini  (in France 198) when we were out by penalties against the future champions of the world. Now, it is en vogue  to trust the youth, but without a solid experienced group you cannot go far.  Even because we are Italy, and if we don't win, we return home to be massacrated. For me, just being here is so rewarding.

To play at the level we did in Germany is unthinkable, but one pass from 100 to 0.  Egypt?  The second match in an internatoinal tournament is the most important.  There is the respect for the Champions of Africa.  Juve searching for Diarra?  He is a great friend and has the right mentality. I think Italian clubs will return to invest. Juve and Inter will make good transfers.  About Santon?  His serenity like a great players has impressed me."
