"I'm disappointed with the club's silence. I'm not happy that they didn't take a stance," Paolo Maldini and Milan responds with an open letter
ItaliaWow, guys, I am in total pain understanding the feeling of our beloved AC Milan Captain Paolo Maldini. Guys, in an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, Maldini expressed his frustration for the silence of the Club after few Ultras contested him in his last match AC MILAN - AS ROMA on Sunday, May 24, 2009. Maldini was playing his 901 match and the last one in San Siro.

Maldini, who in my opinion is worthy of only praises, was contested while he was doing his "giro del campo" by few ultras ruining the party. It is clear that the majority were honoring Maldini and he acknowledges it. So, why let these few ultras ruin the mood and give them publicity which is what they want? I am not one of those ungrateful ultras. I am a proud AC Milan fan honoring my captain, the great Paolo Maldini. I actually suffered a lot for not being able to be in San Siro giving my standing ovation to Maldini. Yet, from my home I observed every movement from Maldini and thanks God for having granted us with such a great footballer and human being.
Point is that there were also banners criticizing Maldini over the 2005 episode when Maldini hit out at a section of fans who had jeered his team when they failed to hold onto a 3-0 lead against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul, where we lost on penalties. Well, of course, I was also hurt for that defeat and at that time contested the team too. Yet, this is no moment to ruin the great career from Maldini. Normal that most AC Milan fans were hurt after we were winning and then losing. Are we going to ruin Maldini's farewell remembering this event? NO !!!!! I say No! Maldini is Milan... and I remember Maldini as a symbol of the rossoneri in the good and bad moments. So, allow me to stand up once again and honor my capitano.
Well, guys, today, in AC Milan official website there is the OPEN LETTER from the club to Paolo Maldini. By the way, I agree with the position of Galliani because "silence is the best weapon" and I won't give satisfaction to those "few ultras". . helloooooooooooooo
Here is the Official Open Letter from AC Milan to Captain Paolo Maldini as appeared today Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
Dear Paolo,
I read your interview and I understand your sorrow: I'm under escort, as you know, for the past two years due to the behaviour of those persons who insulted you.
It was me who took the decision to remain silent: not only because it was suggested to me, but especially because I believed, and still do, that silence is the most efficient weapon, so as not to give further space to behaviours like the one we saw on Sunday.

Here is my Open Letter to Paolo Maldini and to AC Milan Club.
Dear Capitano,
I have read your interview in La Gazzetta dello Sport and I cried of frustration because you don't deserve to experience pain in your farewell by few ultras. Let not your heart be sorrowed but rejoice because most of us AC Milan fans honor you and respect you as great Captain and human being.
I also read the response in an open letter from AC Milan by Adriano Galliani and understand his position.Yet, the Club should have explained their position to Maldini on the same day instead of waiting 2 days to explain their silence for not defending you from not taking a stance.
Simply put, my dear Maldini, let's not grant satisfaction to those few ultras who want to ruin your great career since your debut at 16 years old on January 20, 1985. You said it clearly, " I was hurt. 70,000 people cheered me, 500 wanted to ruin the party." Paolo, embrace those 70,000 and millions abroad like myself. You bet I am proud of you.
Dear Paolo, please accept my standing ovation and gratitude all the way from California, USA. Thank You Paolo for all the wonderful moments you made us live by being a true AC Milan flag and a great Italian footballer. Let the party continue, it is not ruined. Cheer up Maldini and let's dance.
Grazie Paolo.
