Good morning my friends!
It's a lovely morning! Wow, guys, it feels so good to wake up, comes to the blog and see the big posts with the clear result Montenegro 0 - 2 Italy, just awesome guys!!!! Ok, true, it was a not a brilliant match, but here is the thing... Italy got the 3 points and Sampdoria forward Giampaolo Pazzini made his debut with a goal, that made the day!!!
It's time now to prepare for the 2010 World Cup Qualifier match ITALY - REP. IRELAND on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
Here is what's happening today with the Azzurri after their return from Podgorica, Montenegro today Sunday, March 29.
Sunday, March 29, 2009
h. 13.00 Departure Charter flight from Podgorica to Pisa and transfering to Coverciano.
h. 16.30 Presss Conference Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi
h. 17.00 Italian National Training (open to the press)
Coverciano, Florence - Let's talk about our Azzurri. Let me tell you that it was a lovely morning for them too!!!
All members of the Italian National team departed from Podgorica in a charter flight arriving to Pisa at 2;35 p.m.
- 16:30 Press conference with Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi.
Lippi already put on an archive the match with Montenegro and is thinking of the "crucial match" against the Republic of Ireland, coach by our beloved Giovanni Trapattoni. Here are the highlights of the Press Conference. Oh guys, allow me to be patriotic and keep waving my Italian flag because I am happy this morning and optimistic... so, let's see what Lippi had to say......

ON REPUBLIC IRELAND - Lippi saying that "this match is a unique occasion. We want to beat Ireland in Bari to conquer and consolidate a privilege position. The Irish are our only 'antagonist.' They are not evaluated for the domestic draw with Bulgary, but for what they have done well up to now for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers."
ON COACH GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI: "Trapattoni is the image of sport, a point of reference for our generation. For his experience, victories, determination, for his enthusiasm at 70 years old like a young kid. What will I do at that age? I don't even know what I will do tomorrow!!!"
Guys, I love the response from Lippi on Trapattoni, and you? Hey, it is true, Trapattoni being 70 years old won't be a soft chewy chocolate cookie to chew!!! It will require Lippi to finally come out with "a magic touch" and a strategy showing the splendor of Italian football or take a hard lesson by Trapattoni. Ouch!!!! Oh my gosh... no way.. I rather see Italy winning in Bari.
Ironically, guys, Lippi substituted Trapattoni in 1995 when he took over the post of Trapattoni as coach of Juventus in 1995, then in 2004 Lippi substituted Trapattoni when he coach the Italian National team. wow... so... are we talking about some revenge??? NO, I hope not guys.
Lippi says that "there will be no revenge from Trapattoni, he is the most expert man in football. At the moment of listening the Italian National anthem, he might experience a particular thing in his heart and stomach. This is because he is coaching a team that will play against Italy. On Wednesday, he can make us the "April fool" joke. So, we must be concentrated because going with +5 points will be very important, but not definitive. On my part I am not afraid against him, but have great esteem for him."
Wow, guys... Lippi is certainly right. Watch out for Trapattoni not causing an April Fool result on Wednesday. It will be a blow for the Azzurri. I rather see Italy having +5 points difference with Ireland. Don't you?
ON DANIELE DE ROSSI AND ANDREA PIRLO: "If there is a problem to make them play together? But they have been doing it for a long time. The formula, yesterday, having Pirlo more in advance could work,. Maybe we will adopt other alternatives based on tactical needs of the team.
ON SAMPDORIA FORWARD GIAMPAOLO PAZZINI: "if he has climbed positions? He has done well. His magic moment continues. My players must be ready to play part of the match or from the first minute. The most important thing is to be part of this group. It's up to him to climb positions."
Ok, guys, I agree with Lippi, and you? True, it is a joy to see the magic of Pazzini that I have goosebumps just thinking on all the time I kept asking his former coach in Fiorentena Cesare Prandelli to give more time to Pazzini!!!! Wow, it is so nice that Pazzini after his transfer to Sampdoria unveiled all his worth scoring in almost every match!!!! wow, now, making his debut with the Azzurri with a goal, hello, hello, hello... that's magic!!!!!
ON GIUSEPPE ROSSI: "I have not forgotten him. I have called him up just as I called up in the past Daniele De Rossi when he was still eligible for the Under 21. If I will make a turnover? Maybe. It's still too soon to talk about it."
What's your thoughts guys? I think Lippi should give at least some playing time to Giuseppe Rossi and let him get some "experience" with the big guys, don't you think? Hello, you see the results with the Roman gladiator Daniele De Rossi? De Rossi resulted a positive discovery fo the Azzurri and this could happen also to Giuseppe but we got to let him play to find out...... being just in the bench won't do a thing. What's your take? Besides, we have all problems with our traditional forwards being injured lately including yesterday Antonio Di Natale.
ON THE YOUNGER PLAYERS: - "Young players grow up with the experience given by the world champions, with their commitment in trainings."
ON FC JUVENTUS DEFENDER GIORGIO CHIELLINI: Here is the word for the doctor of the National team saying that Chiellii suffered a small trauma on the nasals despite having the mask to protect him after his nose surgery. Chiellini had some bleeding but nothing to be allarmed. Chiellini had some reaction on his eyes maybe because he had his hands duty when trying to clean his eyes. According to the eye specialist, Chiellini might be ready in 48 hours which is on time to make it for the match against the Republic of Ireland.
Hum??? what?? knock, knock, anybody home???!!!! I am not sure Chiellini should play on Wednesday.. hellooooooooooooo come on, the guy not only had a nose surgery, but suffering a blow on his nose despite the mask protection and now problems with his eyes???
Oh pleaseeeeee... let Chiellini recover, rest, let's not worsen his physical condition. I think Italy has more defenders who are ready to give a hand for the Azzurri like Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini. Don't you think? Sure, Chiellini is the top... but right now we must think about his health. We don't want to risk a forced substitution in the match against Ireland.....
Chiellini was even wearing big dark eyeglasses on his return from Podgorica, Montenegro!!!!
ON UDINESE FORWARD ANTONIO DI NATALE: Here again speaking is Dr. Enrico Castellacci, doctor of the National team. According to Castellacci medical tests will continue for Di Natale to see if surgery is needed. If this is the case, then Di Natale will be out for recovery from a period of 5 to 6 months. If there are no surgery, still hope that Di Natale can make it to recover and play the last matches of the season.

the match Montenegro - Italy. Photo: AP
ON SAMPDORIA FORWARD ANTONIO CASSANO : Guys, here is the interesting note because the case of "Cassano" continues ringing on Lippi's ear. Though, when the name of Cassano came out, Lippi responded: "Let's talk about other things, I don't want to talk about Cassano not even in a joke or drammatic terms."
Wow, guys, in other words just by the response of Lippi, I don't think Cassano has a chance for a called up soon... Certainly, Lippi won't call him for the match against Ireland even to replace Di Natale. Lippi already said that he is not calling any replacement. So, it means that we will see a turnover with Giuseppe Rossi and Giampaolo Pazzini because even Iaquinta is injured.. though, he might recover... oh well... Cassano can watch the match from home and support the team. Forza Cassano. Anyway, guys, Cassano had his chances with the National team but his temper ruins his football genius...... hum? oh, well...
This is the schedule of the Italian National Team for tomorrow.
