23 Official Called Up Players by Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers maches MONTENEGRO - ITALY and ITALY - IRELAND

Wow, guys, prepare your Italian flags!!!

Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi called up 23 players for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers.  The two matches are Montenegro - Italy on Saturday March 28, 2009  in Podgorica (20:45) and on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Italy - Republic of Ireland  at the San Nicola Stadium in Bari (20:50)

World Cup 2010 Qualification TicketsGuys, I am so happy because Sampdoria forward Giampaolo Pazzini made it to the list, hip hip hurrah!!!!   Yet, I am disappointed for not seeing FC Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero among the called up players.

Players will be meeting before midnight from Monday, March 23 at the Technical Center of Coverciano.  First training will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. open to the press.  The second training session will be at 16:00 closed doors.

Goalkeepers: Marco Amelia (Palermo), Gigi Buffon (Juventus), De Sanctis (Galatasaray);

Defenders: Bocchetti (Genoa), Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Dossena (Liverpool), Alessandro Gamberini (Fiorentina), Fabio Grosso (O. Lyon), Motta (Roma), Giancluca Zambrotta (AC Milan);

Midfielders: Brighi (Roma), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Pasquale Foggia (Lazio), Riccardo  Montolivo (Fiorentina), Palombo (Sampdoria), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan);

Forwards:  Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Sampdoria),Simone Pepe (Udinese), Fabio Quagliarella (Udinese), G. Rossi (Villarreal).


The list of injured players who are usually called up is increasing. So, this is the reason why you don't see among the called up   Gilardino,  Daniele Bonera, Nicola Legrottaglie, Mauro Camoranesi, Simone Perrotta, Alberto Aquilani, Gennaro Gattuso and Luca Toni. All of them are injured.

Three yellow-carded players have also been called: Chellini, De Rossi and Pirlo.
