It's time to cheer for UDINESE, the only Italian team representing Italian football in Europe right now. Come on, pump it up and get energized to wave your UDINESE flag with honor. We got to support UDINESE and cheer with all our heart.
UEFA Cup Round of 16 First Leg Result: UDINESE 2- 0 ZENIT Goals by Fabio Quagliarella and Antonio Di Natale
Wow, guys, I am already cheering for the tridente "Quagliarella - Pepe - Di Natale"
Here is the situation: First leg Udinese won
- A victory takes Udinese to the Quarterfinals!!!
- If Udinese lose by 1 goal, the aggregate result will have Udinese as winner...
- If there is a 0-0 result, Udinese pass to the Quarterfinals.
- If the results go 2-2, then extra time will be played and if keeping the draw, shoot outs will determine the winner.
The scenario is positive for UDINESE because they the 2-0 victory and Zenit facing the match in a difficult situation with many injuries and suspensions. Centre-back Roman Shirokov and right-back Aleksandr Anyukov are suspended, defenders Tomáš Hubočan and Nicolas Lombaerts are injured while captain Anatoliy Tymoshchuk is unlikely to play after experiencing breathing problems following a knock to his ribs against Spartak. Though, guys, let's not fool ourselves because playing at home and feeling the support of their fans Zenit can overturn the result.
Udinese also have injured players: Andrea Coda, Damiano Ferronetti and Fernando Tissone and Maurizio Domizzi is suspended. Good news is that goalkeeper Samir Handanovič will be ready after recovering from a minor injury which kept him out of Sunday's 1-1 draw against Catania.
The key is for Udinese to score the first goal in the first 15th minute to keep the adrenaline at the maximum level and grasp this victory. I agree with Quagliarella saying that "We must play with the same fighting spirit as in the first leg. I like Zenit's composure on the ball; they have skilful players and are comfortable in possession. We will have to press them in every area of the pitch as we did in the first leg."

Just like Udinese coach Pasquale Marino says today during the press conference, "Zenit is the strongest team they have met until now and they will do everything to reverse the result. If Udinese plays to defend the 2-0, they will risk a lot. Udinese must be aggressive, play in offense and score quickly."
The point is that Udinese is confident and - SO DO I - to make it and if QUAGLIARELLA and DI NATALE are fit, I am all for it!!!!!
Zenit can pass to the next round only if they win by scoring 3 goals without conceding any. If Zenit win by one goal, Udinese will pass to the Quarter Final for the aggregate result.
Here is the thing guys that ZENIT can make it. Zenit already passed a similar test last season when they lost 3-1 at Olympique de Marseille and passing to the next round when they won the match at home by 2-0. You see why UDINESE must not concede goals and win or keep a draw.
Udinese must keep an eye on their defense because as Zenit coach Advocaat says, "they have the beating of Udinese. "Udinese are good in midfield and attack but their defence is a bit slow."
Guys, I am confident Udinese Fabio Quagliarella will use all his inspiration to score and make this dream a reality. "This will be a completely different game from the one at the Friuli: the cold weather, the hot atmosphere their fans will create, plus they will have to start to attack from the first minute," says Quagliarella.
