"We have to work on the psychological aspect and recover," AC Milan Carlo Ancelotti on the elimination of the UEFA CUP by Werder Bremen

Covering the UEFA Cup from an Italian Perspective

It's a new day.  It's Friday, a day after the unbelievable elimination of my Milan from the UEFA Cup.

This elimination hurts so much not only because it is my team, but also for Italian football doing so poorly in the European competition with the elimination of Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Milan.  The only team passing to the next round is Udinese.

What a nightmare it was!  I could not believe AC Milan the "Most International Awarded Italian Team" was being eliminated.  Point is that Werder Bremen won deservedly, period. It's a big failure, A HUMONGOUS FAILURE.

The fans in San Siro whistling the team have all my support, it is just not acceptable to live in this rollercoaster of emotions. Had I been in San Siro, you bet I would have whistle too. This does not mean I don't love my AC MILAN, it's a sign of protest, period. Enough of "siamo belli e guardiamoci allo specchio!" It makes me mad, really mad knowing that Captain Paolo Maldini is retiring from football without lifting the UEFA Cup.

The main objective is lost, gone, kaput, finito.  The other objective to win the Scudetto is not in Milan's hands anymore.  Milan is 11 points away from Inter and 2 from Juventus.  It will be up to Inter to lose 3 matches but Mlan not losing more matches... which right now seems unpredictable. Having said that, FORZA MILAN, REACT MILAN!

     REACT MILAN!

Wake up and smell the coffee because it's burning!!!!!!!

MILAN-WERDER BREMA: LA GIOIA DI PATO

Here are the reactions of AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.

After the elimination at the hands of Werder the analysis of Carlo Ancelotti is bitter and honest at the same time: "Werder dominated us and went through deservedly but we are not a team in disarray."

"We are disappointed. We could have done more in the match, they outplayed us, both in the first half, when we were fresher, and in the second half. It was a continuous suffering. On the goals I can't point out specific blames.

We have to accept this evening and not be afraid to say that Werder clearly deserved it. It's a delicate moment, we have many players out injured and probably on Sunday we won't have Seedorf and Ambrosini available.

In any case our group is not in disarray, we have to pick ourselves up and reach our objective of qualifying for the Champions League. It was a bad evening. Dida? I don't place the responsibility on him. We had decided he would play and we continued on this road. We did not command the match and I also feel responsible. Senderos was one of the few players who did well, he can be an important player for the future. We had prepared this match to play it well, but they attacked us well and found an advantage in aerial play.

The whistles at the end of the match? It's normal and right, they have to stimulate us. Now we have to work on the psychological aspect and recover, close our ranks. Now we must focus on our only objective left, we have to end the season well and think about Samp. We'll try to recover the injured players, we'll try to get back Kaká but it won't be easy."

Do you agreee, disagree with the declarations from Carlo Ancelotti, yes, no, and why?
