Here is the Weekly Roundup, FIXTURES AND RESULTS with Scorers and Match Officials
of the 2008 - 2009 Italian Soccer Serie A Week 24 -
Twenty Fourth Round Matchday 24 Saturday, February 14 and February 15,
2009.Nothing to do but the Milan Derby won by FC Inter with a controversial first goal when the REPLAY shows Inter forward Adriano using his arm to score the opening goal. Despite the protests from AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, Referee Roberto Rosetti validates the goal. Yet, I admit the second goal from Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic is a super goal, guys. Pato shortens the distance and Super Pippo Inzaghi scores a second goal but ruled out for being offside. So many complications in this Derby. However, at the end what counts is who takes the 3 points home and this time Inter took the victory and see themselves as SUPER LEADERS of the Italian Serie A FC Inter 2 - 1 AC Milan
Just a "Saturday of St. Valentine's day" full of whistles at the San Paolo Stadium and at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Guys, Lazio was supposed to win at home and also Napoli. Yet, Lazio got a draw Lazio 1 - 1 Torino and Napoli a draw against Bologna Napoli 1 - 1 Bologna.
True, that Lazio after 4 consecutive defeats should have won at home. However, looking it on the positive aspect, at least they did not lose the entire 3 points. Don't you think?
The one that really surprised me was Napoli not winning at the San Paolo. No, wait a minute, I take back my words. It is just a proof that Bologna forward Marco Di Vaio the top scorer of the Serie A now with 16 goals is really rocking and breaking every wall. It is just super and I am really happy for Di Vaio. Though, I was sad that my two favorite Napoli players German Denis and Ezequiel "El Pocho" Lavezzi could not deliver the winning goal to the joy of all Napoli fans. The absence of Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik was clearly a disadvantage for Napoli. Good thing is that Denis made the assist to Cristian Maggio for the goal. Wow, guys, the biggest surprise before the Milan derby. Genoa was winning the match with 3 goals, and slowly but surely Fiorentina forward Adrian Mutu took equalized the score! The spectacular thing is that Mutu scored the 3rd goal in the very last second of the match when Referee Rizzoli whistles the end of the match, wowww. Thumbs up for Mutu
An upset Juventus with a draw at the Olimpico di Torino!!!!! The fist cold shower in the 10th minute with the goal by Sampdoria forward Giampaolo Pazzini. Guys, Pazzini seems to have recover his way to score again. You bet Sampdoria fans are super happy with his transfer. I always said it that Pazzini just needed a chance to play consistently and not warming up the bench as he was doing in Fiorentina. Anyway, guys, the race for the Scudetto is losing speed. So, it will be up to AC Milan to shorten the distance with Inter today in the Derby and take back the second position. Juventus will play against Palermo next week at the Renzo Barbera Stadium and that risks to be another headache for La Vecchia Signor.
The result making my day and toasting with my cappuccino is the victory from Cagliari! Hey, awesome! Just love it. I can't believe Cagliari is doing so well and among the top 10 teams compared to last season where they were figting constantly for salvation. Goals by Fini and Alessandro Matri beating Lecce.
Not even mentioning the goleada by Atalanta defeating the Roman gladiators 3 -0, ouch!!!!!! U N B E L I E V A B L E!!!!!!! Good to see Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni leading his team to victory and scoring two goals!!!! Whatever happened to the gladiators???? Boh!
