RESULTS Weekly Roundup 2008 - 2009 Italian Serie A Week 23- Twenty Third Round, FIXTURES AND RESULTS with Scorers and Match Officials, Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8, 2009

By Anna Italia

Here is the Weekly Roundup,  FIXTURES AND RESULTS with Scorers and Match Officials  of the 2008 - 2009 Italian Soccer Serie A Week 23 - Twenty Third Round Matchday 23 Saturday, February 7 and February 8, 2009.

A clear result and undisputed fact is that FC Inter  remain the sole leader of the Italian Serie A  with 53 points after beating Lecce, period.
LECCE 0 - 3 FC INTERNAZIONALE

Inter is flying alone  and is not a plane, but INTER extending their wings while the rest of the Serie A Teams observe them flying higher and higher and higher!

Biggest upset ===so far == it is the DRAW
AC MILAN 1 - 1 REGGINA

Why?  Well, hello!!!!  Milan was only 6 points away from Inter and "supposedly" they were going to beat Reggina "the last team of the Serie A" in San Siro.  Oh boy, I have a headache !!!!

Yet, Milan barely got a draw.  Unbelievable.  Now, the rossoneri are 8 points away Inter!!!!!   Point guys is that Milan has not been able to shorten the distance when they had the chance.

Thumbs up for Reggina able to upset two of the biggest teams AS Roma last week and AC Milan.  Reggina put them in difficulty and managed to draw.  Only bad part is that Reggina stilll is in the last position of the table.

Juventus takes the second position of the Serie A with 46 points after beating Catania. La Juve played with 10 men after the sent off from forward Vincenzo Iaquinta who scored the first goal.  Second goal by Christian Poulsen and  Juve can go back to Turin singing the "po po po po."

Cagliari also losing at the Sant'Elia Stadium!!!!  Not only that but  Captain Diego Lopez sent off and also coach Massimiliano Allegri!!!!    Sampdoria failing to keep a victory at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium when Siena forward Massimo Maccarone equalizes the score in the 79th minute.

Guys, the Roman Gladiators dominated Genoa and won at the Olimpico with all 3 wonderful goals by Cicinho, Mirko Vucinic, and Julio Baptista.    Another important result was Fiorentina beating Lazio in the agonizing minutes of the match with a goal by Alberto Gilardino.

What a knockout for Napoli!!!!  Palermo win their 5th consecutive match at the Renzo Barbera Stadium thanks to the super return from injury of Forward Fabrizio Miccoli.  Guys, Miccoli was out for 4 matches and today he made the 2 assists of the goals giving confidence to the team.  Thumbs up for Fabio Simplicio scoring the second goal for Palermo celebrating his 100th appearance with Palermo!
