What a crazy and busy week. We barely finished playing the 21 round yesterday and today, posting the PREVIEW of the Italian Serie A Week 22 - Twenty Second Round on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1, 2009.
A major disappointment with the defeat of Juventus against Udinese and Milan drawing with Genoa. The only undisputed fact is that FC INTERNAZIONALE is flying and continue being the "sole leadership." Inter with 10 men for almost 1 hour managed to beat Catania reaching 49 points while Juventus keep 43 points and Milan now has 41 points.

A match not to miss is LAZIO - AC MILAN. Both have pending debts with their fans. Milan for not keeping a victory in San Siro conceding a late goal for a draw against Genoa and Lazio losing at the Olimpico against Sampdoria.
Even if Lazio beats AC Milan, Milan will keep the 4th position because Genoa holding the 5th position with 37 points will make it to 40 if beating Udinese. Yet, it will be a super setback for the rossoneri losing in the Olimpico because they will practically say "good bye" to the race of the Scudetto.
The whole enchilada is that Inter ---most likely - will beat Torino and reach to 52 points, if Milan loses, the point difference with Inter will be 11 points!!!!!! So, this match is no laughing matter for Milan, but going to the Olimpico with an "offensive formation."
Disadvantage for Lazio with 2 suspended players Foggia and Lichtsteiner and for Milan also suspended Mathieu Flamini and Captain Paolo Maldini. Advantage the inspired couple DAVID BECKHAM and MUSICA AND MAGIA KAKA.... the key player will be young PATO.
Bologna - Fiorentina, here is a win win for both teams. Bologna beat Atalanta and Fiorentina beat Napoli. Though, now it is a bottle for Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic to climb the ladder of the Serie A or start heading to the relegation zone. Bologna is in the 16th position with 22 points. A defeat plus Lecce beating Siena can speed their way to the relegation area. Fiorentina with their victory over Napoli are desperately to go back to the 4th position after falling from grance. If Reggina beat Roma and Palermo beat Genoa, then, Fiorentina can reach the 4th position.
Genoa will play against Palermo and boy expect an uphill battle for Palermo who lost against Roma yesterday. Palermo is now in the 8th position and they are also battling for a post in the UEFA Cup. It will be difficult because Roma and Fiorentina currently hold the 5th and 6th position and they won't let go.
Roma most likely can take a victory when visiting Reggina who are in the last position of the table. If the Roman gladiators win they will have 39 points and hope for Palermo to beat Genoa to grasp the 4th position.
Napoli - Udinese, the time for redemption for Napoli to win again at the San Paolo Stadium. Napoli lost against Fiorentina
Genoa will play against Udinese who beat Juventus. Both are coming motivated because Genoa gathered a precious draw against Milan in San Siro with a goal from Diego Milito. So, guys, here is a tough battle and Udinese more than Genoa desperately needs a victory being in the 12th position with only 26 points. wow.... imagine, Udinese is so far away from the Champions League and UEFA Cup section.... Unbelievable, Udinese 23 points behind INTER! Ouch, that must hurt...

Mamma mia not to mention Torino who will travel to the Giuseppe Meazza to face INTER. Torino should be praying in the bus for inspiration because Inter seems unstoppable right now even with suspended players Adriano and Sulley Muntari. Though, in football nothing is ruled out. As long as Inter has forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Maicon, I think the flight will continue....

So, you bet, Coach Claudio Ranieri this time will have Captain Alessandro Del Piero as the "main engine" to run the team. Ranieri admitted that they missed Del Piero. Though, guys, Juventus cannot rely all the time on Del Piero, right?
The victim to pay the defeat against Udinese is CAGLIARI who are doing a super championship. Cagliari beat Siena last week and are holding the 9th position with 31 points.
Statistics are in favor of Juventus with 28 matches in Torino winning 16, drawing 11 and losing only 1 match. So, here, I will almost blindly say that Juventus will be the winner considering their pride is hurt and risking big time. NO suspended playes in either teams, so that is good news.
