Who were the top 3 best youngest players in defense, midfield, and forward under 23 years old in 2008? Let's have an idea from this group. You can also add the names not listed here and say why they are considered the best in 2008:
Goalkeepers: Curci (AC Siena), (Lazio), Fernando Muslera (Lazio)
Defenders: Radu (Lazio) Rossettini (AC Siena), Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Coda (Udinese), Kolarov (Lazio), Dzemaili (Torino), Gabriel Antunes (Lecce)
Midfielders: Isla (Udinese), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Marek Hamsik (Napoli), Paolo De Ceglie (FC Juventus), Claudio Marchisio (FC Juventus), Nocerino (Palermo), Sebastian Giovinco (FC Juventus), Ignazio Abate (Torino), Bentivoglio (Chievo Verona), Daniele Dessena (Sampdoria)

My top choices: AC Siena goalkeeper Curci, defenders: Criscito, Kolarov and Radu; midfielders: Montolivo, Hamsik, and Giovinco; forwards: Pato, Lavezzi and just for his latest success AS Roma striker Jeremy Menez.
Guys, I think we will mostly agree that Pato and Lavezzi has been more consistent this season and making the difference with their team. Yet, from the two, I think Ezequiel Lavezzi has had the better part because he plays more and is the running motor of Napoli. Forward Mauro Zarate started well, but slowed down a bit. Still, Zarate has scored more goals (8) than Pato (6) and Lavezzi (4). Cavani seems to be awakening and might have a good season in 2009. From the whole gang, I think Napoli midfielder takes the "gold medal" because not only he has been a key player for Napoli but he has even scored 7 goals!!!! Although Lecce defender Antunes has played little, I expected more from him. Balotelli needs to mature and be more a team player. What do you think?
