Here is the starting eleven formation for Fiorentina by Coach Cesare Prandelli:
Sebastien Frey, Dario Dainelli, Alessandro Gamberini, Juan Vargas, Gianluca Comotto, Marco Donadel, Riccardo Montolivo, Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino.
I am watching the match on RAI ITALIA and it is just fantastic! Fiorentina is pressing since the first minute while Palermo seems losing the roadmap of their strategy.
Great performance so far by Fiorentina defender Juan Manuel "EL LOCO" Vargas.
Well, if you are cheering for Fiorentina good news.... In the 19th minute, Fiorentina forward Mario Alberto Santana provides the assist to Alberto Gilardino running to get the ball in front of the goal to shoot from very close range to the bottom left corner. Gilardino and Palermo Dellafiore arrives almost at the same time to get the ball sliding and here is where Gilardino pushes the ball with a clear hand. What a confusion... Oh oh... commentators say it is an own goal. Though, no guys, it is a goal by Gilardino contested by Palermo players because they say he used his arm. Anyway, Gilardino blasting Palermo goalkeeper Marco Amelia and becoming the Top Serie A Scorer with 7 goals!!! Certainly, not a good way to become the top scorer.
Palermo 0 - 1 Fiorentina
Guys, I am telling you, according to the replay / la moviola, it shows that Gilardino did use his arm to score. Yet, the goal was validated by Referee Emidio Morganti. Oh well... what a controversial goal. Watch the video and pay attention to the whole action and you will see "the clear handball."
In the 27th minute, what a luck for Palermo! Forward Edison Cavani provides the assist to Fabrizio Miccoli shooting from outside the box to the center of the goal and Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey saves! Palermo fans at the Renzo Barbera keep chanting for the squad and coach Davide Ballardini is giving directions to the players.
In the 35th minute, Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is forced to make the first substitution for injury. Captain Dario Dainelli continue and leaves the field. Time for Per Kroldrup.
In the 36th minute, Palermo forward Fabrizio Miccoli sends an assist to Mark Bresciano shooting from the center of the box to the center of the goal and cannot blast Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey. Frey saves!
In the 42nd minute, Fiorentina forward Alberto Gilardino provides the assist to his buddy forward Adrian Mutu. Guys, Mutu with a right footed shot from the center of the box sends the ball directly to the bottom right corner blasting Palermo goalkeeper Marco Amelia!!!! wow! Just unbelievable for Palermo fans succumbing at the Renzo Barbera Stadium.
Palermo 0 - 2 Fiorentina
Palermo needs to wake up and concentrate again if wanting to equalize the match or risk losing at home.
Say what???!!! Unbelievable, I can't believe it. wow, Palermo coach Davide Ballardini substitutes goalkeeper Marco Amelia and brings goalkeeper Alberto Fontana in the 46th minute! Wow, unless Amelia is injured is understandable, if not, it is a major blow for Amelia conceding two goals.

Palermo 1 - 2 Fiorentina
Well, it looks like Fiorentina is going to break their bad luck. It has been since 1961 that Fiorentina has only dreamed to win at the Renzo Barbera. Today, looks like they are going to win.
In the 62nd minute, wow a cold shower to Palermo fans! Fiorentina Ginaluca Comotto with a right footed shot from the center of the box shattered the dream of Palermo and blasts Palermo goalkeeper Fontana sending the ball to the top left corner! The face of coach Davide Ballardini says it all. Something must be done or this is history.
Palermo 1 - 3 Fiorentina
In the 64th minute, Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli makes a second substitution.
Zdravko Kuzmanovic out, Sergio Almiron in
In the 67th minute, obviously, in an effort to change the rhythm of the match, Palermo coach Davide Ballardini makes a substitution. Antonio Nocerino out, and bring forward Davide Lanzafame.
In the 70th minute, Palermo with a chance to score but Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey makes a save when Fabio Liverani shoots to the bottom right corner.! Guys, "Lady Luck" is not with Palermo.
Hey, not a nice good bye for Gilardino. In the 76th minute, Cesare Prandelli makes his last substitution. Alberto Gilardino out and Giampaolo Pazzini in. Oh well, you guessed it right. Palermo fans whistles Gilardino because they consider his goal illegal for using his hand. wow, boos and whistles for the capocanoniere / top scorer.
I am sure it doesn't matter to Gilardino because after all his goal was validated.
Palermo fought until the end, no complaint about it. Making it even more dramatic was the final save by Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey. Imagine in the minute, right on the line... few inches for Palermo to shout goal and Frey saves! Well, Frey practically sit and hold the ball to protect the net and not allow another goal. Wow! Thumbs up, a great save that even Palermo forward Edison Cavani congratulated Frey for his bravery. Amazing guys! what an agonizing end.
Fiorentina finally won at the Renzo Barbera Stadium after 47 years since 1961!!!! What a historical defeat for Palermo. Well, guys, don't miss the next match between FIORENTINA - FC INTER on Wednesday at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. Inter has 17 points along Udinese and Napoli as leaders of the Serie A, Fiorentina has 16 points with this victory.
