Although many expected Juventus was going to trash Cagliari, fact is that Juventus barely managed to win this match just by scoring one goal in the 39th minute by Amauri. A great combination between Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved  sending the cross to Amauri shoting from 10 yards to the bottom left corner.

Stretta di mano

Before the match a cordial handshake between FC Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri and Cagliari coach Massimiliano Allegri

Amauri the man of the match delivering the victory for Juventus in the 39th minute.

The suspense moment was when Ranieri had to substitute Saint goalkeeper Gigi Buffon  in the 46th minute for second goalkeeper Alex Manninger.  Buffon experienced a right knee injury and will undergo medical tests to see how serious it is.  Now, guys, this will be a real loss for Juventus in case Buffon had to take time off.

Cagliari - FC Juventus.

For this match, Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri  decided to give resting time to Mauro Camoranesi, Grygera, Nicola Legrottaglie, Del Piero, and Christian Poulsen.  Great decision because a team has to use turnovers and not overwork the same group.

I might say that I was glad that there was no trash because Cagliari was already trashed by Reggina in the Coppa Italia by 4 goals!

Cagliari goalkeeper Marchetti denied Amauri a second goal in the 68th minute making a save from very close range when Amauri headed the ball.

I was surprised that Cagliari forward Robert Acquafresca could not score. Sure, played only in the second half, but 45 minutes is enough to score at least 1 goal.

Il genio rossoblu

Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta and Cagliari midfielder Andrea Cossu...

Il piccolino e il gigante

Big difference between little Cagliari defender Francesco Pisano and the giant Brazilian forward Amauri commanding on the pitch.

Il cannoniere

I know Robert is coming back from injury and I hope he recovers his best shape ASAP. Otherwise, Cagliari risks living the same odyssey from last season being the last position of the Serie A standing for weeks.  Cagliari right now is in the last position with a goal difference of -6 goals.

L'italo-brasiliano in fuga

Difference is that this time there is no "coach Davide Ballardini neither goalkeeper Marco Storari," to come to their rescue, unless Zamparini sacks Ballardini and Storari decides to leave Fiorentina in the next transfer window.
