Good morning, buon giorno.
Finally, the day we have been waiting all along "THE KICKOFF OF THE SERIE A 2008 - 2009!!!"
I am ready, energized, motivated, to watch the first match Udinese - Palermo, then, the second one Sampdoria - Inter.
So here, I am guys, ready for our "coffee morning news readings" with my cup of cappuccino, a strawberry banana yogurt, and an orange juice. Are you ready with your coffee, tea, juice or snack?
Here is the front page of Italy's leading sports newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" from this morning Saturday, August 30, 2008.
Front cover is basically dedicated to the kickoff of the Serie A.
Headline says, "Serie A, kickoff of the championship: (hour 18) Udinese - Palermo.
In big letters:
Today Mourinho and
tomorrow Ronaldinho.
This afternoon Sampdoria - FC Inter:
Cassano wants to stop Italy's champions.
By the way, the front page also shows the news of MOURINHO's exclusive interview in Sportweek.
Anna Italia Opinion
Wow, it is just fascinating! Totally true, showtime today is for the debut in the Serie A of "The Special One" José Mourinho with his "New Inter."
Wonder how will he do knowing that Sampdoria star striker Antonio Cassano wants to stop his team.
Question is whether Cassano can stop Inter alone or not. I think it requires the entire Sampdoria and the bench to stop Inter. Yet, we never know in football, everything can happen.
The first match is UDINESE - PALERMO, and boy, oh boy, here is a tough test for Palermo.
I will be really surprised if Palermo beat Udinese at the Friuli Stadium.
Much expectation - as almost every media reports and cover -- is the debut of AC Milan striker Ronaldinho tomorrow against Bologna!!!
There is the SHOWTIME for TOMORROW as noticed by La Gazzetta dello Sport. You bet it will be show time. Also, we will see whether the "Prodigal Son" Andriy Shevchenko will play or not, and if he does, how well will he do. Tough road for Sheva to reconquer his fans and living legend Milanista Bill Costacurta who opposed to his transfer. So, now, it is up to Sheva to start talking with goals and making the difference with the team. SHOWTIME IT IS.

UEFA CUP Draw - Predictions from La Gazzetta dello Sport
I love how La Gazzetta put in the front page the 4 Italian teams AC Milan, Sampdoria, Udinese, and Napoli competing in the UEFA Cup wiht a happy face or sad face symbol to indicate whether it was a good draw or not.
So here is how Gazzetta see the chances to pass for the 4 Italian clubs:
AC Milan - FC Zürich = Happy Face
Sampdoria (ITA) vs Kaunas (LTU) = Happy Face
Napoli (ITA) vs Benfica (POR) = Sad Face
Dortmund (GER) vs Udinese (ITA) =Don't know face
